I just ordered a new set of Accel C.O.P.s ($110 + sh on ebay) and need to replace a couple of the old connectors. Anyone know of a good place to order replacement connectors and how to push the pins out of the old connectors?

They look like Molex pins and I was wondering if a standard Molex pin extractor would work. If possible I don't want to cut the harness or solder on new pig tails. I just want to push the pins out and into the new plugs.

I hate to be the guy to tell you, but the Accel coils are not as good as stock. Do a search on a few cobra forums and see what they think of the Accel's.... JUNK!

Did lots of reading and saw many varying opinions. Some good, some bad with no where as much bad input on the Accels as I saw about the Granetalli or Moto-Blue C.O.P.s.

Would have picked up the weapon x ones but don't have the funds. It was a sweet deal for these and I paid less than what the OEM ones would cost. In a year or so Ill pick up the EFX line from weapon x when I get into some boost and have money saved.

Hmmmm. Goto svtperformance and search Accel coils. There is about 4 page's of not so good storie's on them. Not trying to make you feel bad about your purchase but you have to acknowlege the facts.

OEM FTW!

I did and same with ModularFords, TheCorral , and numerous other forums and it's about 50/50 as far as I can tell. Just like some people have bad experiences with misc products and some don't.

What I read on forums is not fact but peoples opinions and as I said about its about 50/50 from the reviews I have seen. Until I see data actually showing these are crap compared to OEM then I can only go by what I have read.

Some people swear that these were great and they saw an immediate performance gains, some didn't like them or had issues. Local Boy has them and has had no complaints along w/a couple other members on this site. Not necessarily looking for a performance gain just a better.smoother running car. These were a bargain at half the MSRP and cheaper than most OEM replacements (I won't buy off brand OE replacement) so I figured WTF go for it.

I also saw the same w/the reviews of the MSD version which are nearly $150 more expensive than the Accels.

I also saw that most people loved the Weapon X ones with only a few complaints that Mark (the owner) addressed nearly immediately. If I had the money right now I would go w/the Weapon X EFX FTW.

Back on track now, can any one help me with the connectors? Just need to know what tool is required to push the old pins out without cutting the connector off and a good place to order new connectors where I won't get ***** at dealership prices.

I believe the tool is the same a one for the WeatherPak cpnnectors.

It's the tool with the screwdriver handle.

Do yourself a favor and get the GMS coil connectors.

IMHO.... unless your running boost, I'd have stuck with the OEM COPs.

Are the Granetalli worth the price? How good are they?

Look at the picture.... you decide.....

Give you a hint.... stock is on the right.... the one that looks like a ball point pen spring.

You can't bend the GMS one.

On a N/A car the OEM coils are more than efficient, anything else is just a waist of good money. Now the COP connectors are worth the investment. Two choices for connectors are Granatelli Motorsport's and Lightning Force Performance. The LFP's are the same quality as the GMS and are alot cheaper in cost.

For what ever it's worth...

I've been running Accel cops w/ GMS connectors for @ 2 years now w/ 10 lbs of boost...Not one hiccup...

Works for me!...

Are the Granetalli worth the price? No.How good are they? Not very.

With the Granetalli, you'll have to use a spacer under the covers, may have to re-wire the electric connectors, and have the ****ers short out from time to time. I have a set (less than 10,000 miles) if you want them. $20 plus shipping.

Sorry Paul, but no spacers needed with GMS connectors...

If the covers didn't seat all the way, I knew the connectors was not clipped on the plug correctly...

Both covers fit with no issues...

Not the connectors, I was talking about the complete GMS COPS.

I think they revised the design, only the very early GMS COPs required spacers.

Just put them in, cars runs smoother, idles better and feels like it has more a little more grunt throughout the power band. They get a thumbs up from me.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, Paul...

You are correct, with the early coil packs...

I also installed a set of Accel coils yesterday in Trilogy 145 the car is like a different beast runs smooth, I replaced just the boots a few months back it only helped a little bit. When my car was at the stealer last month for the A/C compressor exploding I had them do a stress test on the coils they stated coils 1,4,7,8 were bad and wanted $562.00 to replace 4, this is what made me look at the Accel product the new Accel coils and boots work great. Plenty of power, idle is very smooth for the cost this for me has been a great replacement part for the MM. I will keep testing these and post back with any concerns that may arrise in the future. for now they are very good.

The facts are, Accel & MSD make excellent products, and OEM coils do go bad. Hopefully, the aftermarket replacements cost less, and last longer than OEM.

I have a set of Accel coils in my supercharged 5.4 2V Crown Vic, and they work fine, replacing 2 failed, and 6 used OEM coils.

Well it been a couple days and I have put over 100 mile on the car since install. Still feels great and much smoother throughout the power band. I just use the COP connectors that came with the Accels and they are the same as stock.

I plan on ordering new harness connectors and replacing the bad ones I had to zip tie in place soon. May just make a harness so that I can unplug an entire side and lift all 4 of COPs out as an assembly with teh harness still attached. Found some weather tight, high temp connectors that I may use just need to price them and make sure I don't need special crimping tools.

I will probably also look into the Granattelli C.O.P booties when I do that work. I've come across a couple good deals online and if the right one pops up I will snatch them up.

Thanks for the input everyone. Glad they are working for you Dave, let me know how the first commute to Orlando works out.

How many miles were on your stockers? Perhaps time for a new dyno or a run at the drags? :burnout:

Just over 65k on the OEMs. Thinking about going back next month to get it tweaked a little more and do a little more work on the shift schedule. We have a couple other local members who are also interested so I'm going to see about booking a dyno day for multiple cars at once.

Planning on adding the X-muffler you got and new cats soon. Also considering porting the intake and adding UD pulleys before then so I'll want to see what kind of improvement I get after those changes.
