the same size tire all the way around? After investing a lot of time researching all the manufacturers' and etailer' sites, plus talking to a few local retailers, the best suggestion is:
Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring in size 235/55R18
http://www.goodyeartires.com/cfmx/web/gytires/comfortred-touring/
The UTQG rating is 700 while the speed rating is T (118 mph). One advantage would be the ability to rotate for even tire wear. Another would be the comfort of having a matching full size spare for any wheel.
Both of my cars are daily drivers averaging more than 20k miles per year each. I doubt either will ever make a pass at the dragway, although its comforting knowing I got enough power to pull away from most vehicles around.
Let me know your thoughts and experience.

Mark if you install the same tire size all around on the silver birch, your abs would act up. I believe the rear tires has to be 3% taller than the fronts because of the traction control.
The black car will be fine, Because it doesn't have traction control.

I think Dennis can reset the TC in the Silver up or down. The 235/55R18 is just shy the height of the 245/55R18. For the price and promise of wear, I'm really leaning this direction. Continental discontinued its 285/50R18 and the choices of finding same front/rear combos are getting more difficult.

Hey Mark- understand the benefits of what you are thinking about. I am sure you could run 255-45's all the way around as well. Your choice bud. If ya want to set your car up same size all the way around? Go for it:)
Its your hard earned dough:D

Thanks for the additional sizing ... found Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum which is a W (168 mph) and 600 UTQG.

I've been running 255/45's for three years now - no traction control/no problems!
Adjusted revs per mile w/Xcal II for the speedo.

I have Falken Ziex 245/45/18ZR all the way around, they are pretty good tire.
I may be looking into your setup next time around though, Krytin...

The red wall tires from Nitto are no longer available but they have another etreme summer performance tire in the line-up that I will be getting next - I'll post it when I look it up again.

Any opinion on these?

Also, there were no concerns of fitment issues with this size? I'm honestly still trying to wrap my head around tire specs.

I never liked Conti's but that's just me.
Also won't use Firestone/Bridgestone or Dunlop - nothing good anytime I tried.

Those Nittos do look nice. I have one more question though, then I'll be off to do some more homework on the subject:
Do you have any experience with General Tire brand tires? I see my local discount tire has a pretty good deal on General Grabber and I wanted to see some impressions on them because I have never heard much about them thus far.

You can get the Nitto 555's. Stock 235's up front and a 265/50/18 in the rear.
Matching tire size all the way around would be nice, but I like the traction control, sometimes.

The only Generals I ever had were the ones that came from the factory on my new '88 Bronco Custom. As I remember they handled well on the full size Bronco and lasted over 50K miles!

Darn good tire, but expensive.
