Ive seen the Infinity Basslink around here, and i think a few people have that one

does anyone recommend a bass setup for replacement of OEM?

If you just want to replace the driver look for the 8" shallow Pioneer or the 6" JL Audio sub. Both fit with a little modification.

BTW watch out for those wolfers, they may not work as good as a woofer!

Yes, the Infinity Basslink.

I have had the Basslink in the MM since the day I bought it new. It fits nicely in the space where the factory sub sits. Of course you have to remove the factory sub. I always get great comments from people about the sound.

The self amplified MTX unit that Johns stereo sells is a nice unit at a great price.

Has anyone done this? How does it sound compared to the Basslink or MTX?

I am done with the POS stocker. Got a road trip coming end of the month and I'm doing something. I am intrigued with this as it would leave room for an an amp and still a little room on the shelf for storage.

I put in all new kicker door speakers yesterday. New head unit and 2 JL 12's. Using factory amp and sounds great! EASIEST install I've ever done. I have heard great things about the Infiniti and MA drivers though

Here is my subwoofer.

Its an L7 8" with a box I made out of 5/8 MDF. If I were to do it again I might have gone with a 10" L7 in a sealed box.

Get in touch with John from Pop's stereo. He's a vendor here and has done MM stereo conversions and could give you some good advice as to what works and what doesn't.

I bought my Pioneers from John.
He must be out racing, I pm'd him a couple of days ago and haven't heard back.

I have the 8" Pioneer shallow sub, there is a Canada member running the JL Audio 6" sub. Mine sounds great, it wakes up the interior so much better than the stock unit and creates a balaced bass responce in conjunction with my Infinity Kappa's. You can't here me a mile away but inside it's more than enough fidelity. The stock amp works well with this setup

no pics of my 12's install yet. but the door speakers were direct replacement and apparently run off the head unit. The amp appears to support the driver only. All I did was buy a connector like the factory amp uses for the driver and spliced my 12's into it and plug and play. everything that was ran from the factory worked like a pre-wired kit. Sounds amazing, clean, clear and zero interference

Give Rich (magindat) a shout here. He is up the road in Vero Beach, builds sub boxes, designs and installs and is very willing to share knowledge and ideas. This is his work..

I have installed the 8 inch in my stock box with stock amp and you can hear/feel the difference. Since the speaker install over the last six month I added a aftermarket amp and pioneer z3 head unit with back up camera. Both set up work well.

useing the stock amp on aftermarket 8'' sub wont overdrive the amp? how much power can that little amp put out?

musclemerc

^^ Not as long as the sub is 4-ohm impedance. 2-ohm then your in trouble and stand a chance of blowing the amp.

I wouldn't use the factory amp to power the JL subs, it under-powering them a lot. It is only designed to put out 100 watts MAX. You can get away with using the factory amp on a very low RMS watt requiring sub like I am doing. Under-powering a sub can damage it more than over-powering it.

I'm running a 12" 125 watt rms sub in a sealed back. Factory amp puts out about 100 watts max at 4 ohms.

yea today the factory amp overheated a little and cut out. It will be a temp set up as I have a Pioneer 1200 watt amp in my garage, just have to wire the new stuff

can you use all the factory wireing from the factory amp for a aftermarket amp?

boatmangc

I understand the factory power wiring is only 10 Ga. wire, if you are putting an amp in of any size (wattage) you would want to run heavier power cables with appropriate circuit protection at the power source

10Ga? thats not too bad, i believe thats what im running in my truck for a 700watt amp, no problems for 5 years.

WHOA... nice ass organizer!

who made that nice red organizer?

10 Ga is puny for a big amp in a car as big as ours. The longer the distance from the battery the bigger the cable requirement.
