I was driving west on US 30 in IN making my way onto I-65, when I see a black Fox Body Mustang. I wanted to pull up to him, but traffic was heavy, even at 10pm. After a few miles I got up to him and noticed a lot about his car. 10.5 inch wheels in the back, skinny's in the front, at least four extra gages and on top of that a spoiler that I only see for eight second cars. It didn't even exceed the height of the trunk, just extended it so to say.
I pulled up next to it and said:
"Hey, how much power are you making?"
"Nothing really, the engine is stock."
"Yeah right. I noticed your gages, skinny front tires and have never seen a spoiler like that off a race track. What else is done to that stock engine?"
The guy quit looking at me and acted as if he didn't even hear me. He literally quit looking at me (we were at a light BTW) and just started waiting for the light to turn green. We both had cars in front of us so there was no way I would have been able to play with this guy. When the light turned green he was off and when he cleared traffic he gave it 1/4 throttle and was gone. By the sounds of the engine he had a bottle in the trunk most likely. Not that he was spraying, but the engine did sound stock. I highly doubt it was a Pro Street.
Even if I beat this guy, it would have been because he couldn't hook up or didn't have time to do a burnout.
I do have respect for someone driving a "street car" on the street. If I had more time or the slicks I would have asked where the fun was. Oh well, the year isn't over yet. :burnout:
