Hey all - 30k on it now and its time for fuel filter. I saw the part at Autozone and I see that it's in line somewhere w/special clips. I have to assume these clips are what lock the lines to the filter. Where is the fuel filter on the car? Any special tips to changing it?
I cleaned the throttle body and it was FILTHY. Thanks in advance!

its on the drivers side frame rail near the tank. you will need a fuel line disconnect tool which they sell at auto zone.
oh yeah, try to do it after the car has sat over night, or you will get a face full of gas.

Yeah it's under the Passenger side rear door towards the back of it on the inside of the frame rail.
The big trick is the clips push in - They don't pull off. You don't remove them. I learned the hard way that pulling them out == breaking them.

^^Meh. you can buy them in a 10 pack for a few bucks at Napa Auto
I pull them off and put new one's on. The 10 pack will last me a loooooong time

You do have to REMOVE the clips.
Fuel filter clips from NAPA: FILNCK11 – qty. 10 fuel filter clips
You can also go with a bigger diameter filter. It won't attach to the OEM bracket so just use a big hose clamp or zip ties.
Fuel Filters:
Purolator – F65277
Fram – G8018
Motorcraft – FG986B (stock)
Motorcraft – FG800A (larger than stock, use hose clamp or zip ties to secure it to stock bracket)
WIX – 33595
NAPA ProSelect – SFI23595
NAPA Gold – FIL3595
AutoZone - FF686 – 2” diameter fuel filter
AutoZone - FF745 – 3” diameter fuel filter

you can also do the Zack fuel filter mod, i did it to my car. use the search function. its very easy and eliminates the 90* turns before and after the filter.

I pulled the FP fuse then tried to start the car to bring the fuel pressure down. Never be under the hoses or have them pointed toward you. Even at zero pressure, gravity will pull fuel out.

I'm the one snorting aluminum dust lately! Between that and the iron oxide in my blood, I'm liquid thermite! If I go up in spontaneous human combustion, you'll know why!!!

YOU guys rock. I remember from the 1st Marauder I had, the responses came back fast. It made me able to decide on performing repairs, etc myself or farm it out. This is do-able for sure. Ok - get bigger filter from Napa and disconnect tool. Pull fuse, crank to pull fuel from lines - Cap off, remove lines by pushing clips INWARD. Replace filter and secure. Replace fuse and cap. Enjoy greater filtration and many thanks for the how to.
