Well, I'm finally going to put in a new air ride compressor, but I'm not sure where to buy it. I know there was mention of not going OEM, that some of the aftermarkets were of better quality. I've narrowed it down to between Suncore and Arnott. They both post the same price for a compressor with a dryer ($190). Is there any real difference between the two? If not I'll just flip a coin to pick who I purchase from.
last month i bought mine from arnot looks like the oem with better metal i hope. On there site its listed under the gm not the marauder. i emailed them and asked if it was the same part the guy told me know and sent it to me anyway. but it works fine.i would go with suncore because the arnot guy didnt know what he was talking about.

Do a search............
Others have used the Arnot compressor with good results.

I have searched a bit, but nothing said either is any better than the other. Best I can tell neither is any better than the other but both are better than OEM, from what I've been able to find. I was just trying to see if anyone had any serious enough negative issue with either of them in any way to help guide my purchase one way or the other.

I can't speak for the Suncore one, but the one I bought from Arnott arrived quickly and works fine. The only 2 issues, admittedly small, are that the air outlet connection on the dryer is slightly rotated from the factory unit and is a tight fit against the windscreen washer bottle and that the supplied mounting hardware is smaller and, I think, inferior. The unit does, however, work perfectly and is almost silent.

Since there weren't any replies regarding Suncore, and the prices are the same, I decided to give Suncore a whirl. I guess we'll see how that turns out. Put my order in today, maybe I'll have it by the end of the week.

Hmmmm....
So your willing to try an untested part of unknown quality from a vendor that no one has experience with, rather than go with a klnown vendor that supplies a quality part that others have used.
One question...
Why?
Good luck!

My Arnott arrived in days, had all hardware, and works perfect. The only problem was that I could never hear it run.
Which ever one you went with just make sure you drill a small hole in the tray where the compressor sits. You could do this through the wheel well. Not sure if you noticed but water does tend to pool up in there partially submerging the pump, this can't be good for it.

I can't attest to the air pump from Suncore, but I did go to them for a rear coil spring conversion, and they were very easy to deal with a quick to ship. If the quality of parts is of the same caliber as their service, I'd say go for it.

Why? Because someone needs to be the guinea pig since no one else spoke up. Besides, they still seemed to be a good enough bet. I should be receiving it Thursday, and I'll pop it in by Saturday morning.

Thanks for the reminder. I'll be sure to do that when I do the swap.

Just installed compressor from Suncore no issues. Just make sure your air bags are not leaking. Inflate manually shut off switch . Wait for a day no leaks your good to go. I think I saw your car in schaumburg has your name ledzilla on tags.

I know leaks aren't a problem. I've had a manual bypass switch installed for quite some time, and I've been using a shop compressor for about two years to keep the bags inflated. I had no intention of waiting so long to replace the compressor, but this is the first time I've had the money and didn't need to fix something for pay for something more important. But thanks for the info on the Suncore compressor! It's good to know. I should be getting it tomorrow, but I don't I'll have the time for installation until Saturday.

Yup, that was me. :D I'll bet it was on a Monday...
On another note, I seem to have a "compatibility" issue. One of the mouting bolts won't line up with a hole, and the air inlet doesn't match my air line. However, the rest is a good match for what was in there (except the new compressor isn't rusty as all hell like the old one). I did test it, though, and it works great. I figure that I can just create a new hole for the last bolt and use something, don't know what, to plug in the air inlet line. I figure it's there for a good reason, such as not to suck up potentially moist air from the tray. I might just leave it without the air inlet line hooked up, though.

Well, I got it all in and done today. I bent the bracket that mounts closest to the rear and I was able to get all the mounting bolts into the holes, all nice and snug. As for the inlet hose, I secured it in place with a couple twist ties and the sealed it in place with some clear silicone caulk. It's nice being able to adjust the rear height again without needing a shop compressor.
