If it's metal and not worn, why not reuse it?

Becauuuuussssseeee... Once this puppy is in, you think I want to pull it and change a 10.99 part??? :D From what I'm reading, most don't use it. It's called an oil slinger, but, is actually dry. I'm just being careful and would rather buy a new cheap replacement part and not have to worry about it. Thank you though! That's probably what I'll do!

Good call. Just took another look at it on the old crank. Looks like the slinger is tight on the crank while the seal is tight in the rear main cover behind it. Thanks! :)

Did you get a full windage tray? MMR has them (re slinger)

I didn't use one on my rebuild, not did David. I used P/N BS40620 from Advanced for the rear main seal and it worked fine without the slinger. Most guys I talked to on the various Stangs site said the same thing that they never reinstalled them.
I did try to use it at first but damaged the new one during install and said screw it. No leaks for more than a few months and I average 65 miles a day.

Stock windage tray will be fine. :) Yeah, oil slinger isn't a must.
