View Full Version : Changing O-Rings = Better gas mileage? Or gas gage on it's way out?

This seems highly unusual, but when I changed the O-rings my gas mileage seemed to have gotten better. For the first time in about two weeks I filled the car to the top after I changed the O-Rings. When I do the needle doesn't start to drop until 56 highway miles, yesterday it started dropping after 69 miles. It wasn't like I didn't notice or look at the gage until 69 miles, it stayed full for 69 miles.

I wasn't driving any different then usual. Actually I was being reckless and have been a lot lately. Not a day has gone by in the past week where I haven't gone 105.

For some reason it appears the gas mileage has gotten better sense the vacuum leak has been fixed, but this was just for the A/C.

My other guess is the gas gage could be on it's way out after 166,000 miles. It's still working fine and dropping like it normally would. I wasn't going up or down hill when I was watching the gage so that isn't it either. Has anyone ever had a problem with their gas gage here where it was delayed, quit working or was delayed before it gave out for good?

I doubt fixing the EATC would increase your gas mileage... :shake::shake:

Bad o-rings "might" cause a slight vacuum leak which "could" cause a lean condition.

LOL

The O-rings and gas mileage have nothing to do with each other.
