My car overheated today, to my delight:mad2:coolant was goin everywhere because of the pressure, I look and my temp gauge is way past the H so she is really hot. I drove all the way uptown with no problem, I hear what sounds like a loud clicking noise and its coming from the fan. It sounds like the fan is hitting something as it spins and then the noise stops as does the fan too. So I was wondering has anyone else ever had this problem. Do I need another fan?:help:

my core support was hitting my fan shroud, but the fan wasn't making any noise and it was not turning either. have you ever accidentally jacked up your car on the core support?:o immmm dumb....anyways, it doesnt seem to take much effort to keep it from moving....so i cant imagine it taking much effort to slow it down enough to have your car overheat. try checking around the entire shroud where the fan blades run with your finger to see if debris might be stuck on it...road tar or something. good luck--whitey

Be careful doing this because the plastic can cut you: Can you freely spin the fan (Engine off!) with your hand? See if something is lodged in it. If it is hard to move, you could have a bearing seizing up.

There have been a few fans that cracked. The cracked place is usually in the ring on the outside diameter. It will rub in places and stop the fan from turning. The fan is not available separately from the dealer, but there are a few of them available on here... Check with Brian (RoyLpita)

OK I went to the dealer and they said it was the fan motor clicking, but Im going to check to make sure it is not cracked, like you all suggested
