Yeah this is a hot issue here in NYC. Turns out some developers wanna build a Mosque within 2 blocks of the WTC site. Its costs 100 million to build and they so far haven't raised dollar one for this project. Last week they tried a loophole to prevent the mosque by turning the proposed building into a landmark so this way it can't be torn down. That was voted down 9-0. The Governor stepped in and offered other areas of the state that are farther away from the site. The developers are interested in the offer.
Obama admitted to supporting the mosque being built near the WTC. :mad2:

Yep, Barack Obama has been compared to George Washington 'cause he backs the plan.:stupid: Mayor Bloomberg is for it too.:argue: Where is Rudy Guilani when you need him?

The truly disturbing thing is that the mosque builders don't have the brains/common sense to see the insensitivity of what they want to do. They get my vote for the "poster boys" of CLUELESS!:mad2:BTW I lived in NYC during the Guilani era. He is my hero!

First of all it is a cultural center and "they" are not the ones who flew the planes into the buildings, nor is their religion responsible for a few nut jobs.
Secondly it is two blocks away, not at ground zero.
Thirdly, there is an existing mosque four blocks away from ground zero that predates the WTC. It has been there for over 40 years.
Fourth, we have freedom of religion in this country. To deny them the freedom to build there makes us no better than those you supposedly hate.
Fifth, the Bible says you aren't supposed to hate them.
I don't want them there either, but I choose to live in a country where they have that right.

Information is power!+1 ^^^ Duhtroll's comments are consistent with my own. My earlier point was related to the insensitivity of building a new mosque near that location, not that they have no right to build one. BTW I might be a tiny bit remorseful about my 2nd post, but not enough to retract it. My brother-in law is Muslim. My neices do not need to read on mm.net that he is therefore "satanic and evil." He is far from either.

Muslims are evil people and of a satanic religion. Jesus is the truth. We all should accept Jesus as the Messiah, the Christ and our Savior.
That is an extremely ignorant point of view. Most muslims are god fearing and good people, there is a reason why some are called extremist's. Every religous group has them
The Christians have the Ku Klux Klan, and other splinter groups that use religion as a reason to hate people.
Islamic people have Islamic Fundamentalists that go to the extreme and are hell bent on our destruction.
Grouping one faith and painting them all as satanic shows a lack of imagination, a lack of education, and a lack of an open mind.
that having been said, I think the proposal of the mosque was done largely to stir up feelings. considering there has been no fundraising or monies drawn to support it, it would seem to me that it may have just been done for the shock value.
We'll see, though I sure do miss old Rudy

~80% of the Mosque in the USA are of the Wahhabi Sect. Just because a Muslim attends a Mosque does not mean he agrees with the Iman.
Many Mosque offer various services for youth as do many Sinagoues and Churches.
Search Wahhabi and draw your own conclusion as to wether it is tolerant or peaceful.
Keep in mind that ~80% of the Mosque in the USA are Wahhabi and are preaching according to the Wahhabi Sect while they offer sercvices to youth that is tempting for many parents to accept.
You will see the following from numerous different sources;
"His instructions in the matter of extending his religious teaching by force were strict. All unbelievers (i.e. Moslems who did not accept his teaching, as well as Christians, &c.) were to be put to death. Immediate entrance into Paradise was promised to his soldiers who fell in battle, and it is said that each soldier was provided with a written order from Ibn 'Abd ul-Wahhab to the gate-keeper of heaven to admit him forthwith. In this way the new teaching was established in the greater part of Arabia until its power was broken by Mehemet Ali. Ibn'Abd ul-Wahhab is said to have died in 1791." http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/gulf/wahhabi.htm
The very fact that this Iman is doing what he is doing says everything I need to know about him and his supporters. Follow where the money to build comes from and see if any new churches or new synagoues are allowed in those countries.
Do a search on the biography of Muhammad and of Jesus Christ. Compare the acts of a person who emulates Muhammad vs one who emulates Jesus Christ will explain a lot.

At the present time, Shia and other non-Wahhabi Muslim community leaders estimate that 80 percent of American mosques are under Wahhabi control. This does not mean 80 percent of American Muslims support Wahhabism.

With in 5 years we will see what we are currently seeing in Europe. People who were born in the USA and who are from the middle class committing acts of terrorism as Wahhabist. We will then see some "public leaders" push for recognition of Sharia Law for Muslims, for a Nation with in a Nation. Some "public leaders" will then push to accept this to appease, to stop the violence and bigotry all in the name of tolerance. Tolerance that is a one way street to Balkaniszation.
Muslim means to submit.

Exactly, there is a lot to read. Over the years, a lot was omitted. But, it can all be summed up in a couple lines: Jesus died for our sins. Everyone can sin as much as they want, Jesus already paid the tab, so to say. Jesus would like for us to forgive and forget, but that is not one of the 10 Commandments, so I'm still partial to "an eye for an eye" myself. That's pretty much all anyone needs to know.
And the 10 Commandments, some are actually law-based, I mean "Thou shalt not kill", if you do and get caught, you're pretty much going to jail. But when was the last time someone was arrested for coveting thier neighbors wife? That's more moral code based. The whole shebang, all the books of the Bible, are great stories with a lot of focus on choosing right from wrong. The bibles I have read do not tell you to slay your neighbors because they are not Mormon, or Roman Catholic, or Hillybilly Snake Charmer. If the people of Utah declare a Mormon Holy War on the other states and start blowing **** up, then I will change my opinion on Muslims and the koran, but I don't think that will happen anytime soon. We have Mexico invading, stating they want their land back, and we can't deport them all, blah blah blah, and the Muslims taking over because according to them, there is only one faith, thiers. Pretty soon it will just be illegal Mexicans and Muslims living in perfect harmony. I rarely mention religion or my take on it because some knucklehead always tries to argue about something rediculous like how God hates fags. Yeah well He also said cross-pollenating plants was a sin and wearing clothes made from two different threads was a no-no, and all kinds of other crazy **** if you really delved into "the law" as it is known. Eating shellfish is a sin, too. I'm glad you know someone who is Muslim and is a nice person but in my experience and travels, that's harder to find than rocking horse turds. It is not like one Muslim somewhere decided to blow something up, they are blowing stuff up all over the world. One bad apple may not spoil the bunch, but there are a whole lot of bad apple trees in that orchard. I think it is in terribly bad taste to build a mosque that close to "ground zero". The reason the Jewish temple in Israel has not been rebuilt is because of a mosque. No Jewish temple will ever be built in the shadow of a mosque, and guess what casts a shadow over where the temple used to be? Was the mosque built on purpose, knowing the hardcore Jews, no matter how much they hated it, would not rebuild it? Yes, yes it was. Do they want to build mosques that close to ground zero to rub it in our faces? Yes, yes they do. Just my thoughts on the topic of the post.

I will only say that all religions are based on the words and reports of man. They have been translated over thousands of years, by man, and have reveresed themselves more than once. All religions are based on the predication that they are the only ones being saved and all others are doomed. So the question becomes, do we have a segregating God that will only save one religion, or do we have a merciful God that will save us all.
I have read my bible, well a very large portion of it, and it amazes me how anyone can manipilate any passage to mean exactly what they want it to mean. What people lose sight of, is all these books were written and interpreted by man and now are somehow subject to be law. IMHO, it matters that you believe, and that you have faith. That does not need to necessarily tie in with a celestial being.
As a country we spend too much time focused on religion and trying to convert other countries to our way of thinking. Personally I don't think any religion has it 100% correct, but I believe in a higher power and I believe the 10 commandments are just good rules to live by.
Though my neighbors wife is hot, sorry, gotta erase those lustful thoughts

If you enterpret the bible AS IT IS WRITTEN, like I said Jesus died for our sins. He took our sins upon His shoulders, so that we may live. You do not have to repent, you do not even have to NOT sin, your sins are paid for. Try getting your Sunday school teacher to actually admit that, but it is what it is. And that IS what it is.

I don't usually like to jump in on religious stuff, I mostly keep that personal, but at any rate I think it's relevant here:
There was one thought and one point that pretty much got me to the point of no longer being an avid follower of faith (was born and baptized a Catholic), and that thought was this: if I was to live entirely by the moral code of the Church, doing good deeds and helping others and basically living a life that puts others before myself, BUT didn't do any of this in the name of God or for his honor or however you'd like to put it, would that make me a bad or evil person, unworthy of salvation?
Most of the times, the answer was yes, and that was the point where I felt religion was pretty empty and hypocritical.
This goes without saying of course, but no offense is meant to anyone, those are just my thoughts and my take on things.

Anytime someone says something like that, or says according to Jesus or God "unless you do this" or "unless you do that" you won't make it to Heaven, just ask them where they got that info from. Specifically, what book, chapter, and verse. Careful tho, it pisses off people who have no idea, and just spout stuff to make them feel holier than you. I mean thou. :D
