WHAT A CAR!!!!!!

I took my first long trip in the "Beast" yesterday...I
drove to Charlotte (about 250 miles) and even though I was accelerating and decelerating betweem 60 and 80 most of the time (varying engine speed) I got 21.7 MPG !!!!:D

I only have 600 miles on it now and plan to "take it a little easy" for the first 1000 miles??

Cops even give me a second look....."That's right buddy....It's a Crown Vic on STEAROIDS"!!!! ;)

Stay tuned!!

Hey Marauderjack! Glad you are enjoying the new ride! I too, have been surprised by gas mileage. I have about 500 miles now. My most recent tank was about 120 miles stop and go(0-35) and about 75 miles on interstate. It was just under 18MPG!!! Much better than my TRUCK(96 Windstar) You gotta LOVE these cars!!!

Jack:

Someone here once said "Drive it like you stole it"...

Although it would probably be prudent to avoid dropping the hammer at every stoplight, I've always lived by the "Drive it the way it's going to be driven for the rest of its life" theory...today's cars don't need a specific or extensive break-in...going WOT occasionally won't hurt it...just don't drive it like you're auditioning for "2 Fast / 2 Furious"... :D

Yea I agree with RF. Given the opportunity to break in several Crown Vics, I drove it like I was chasin someone who stole it. Was very impressed with these cars. Thats what drew me to the Marauder. We have several cars in our fleet with upward of 120k and nothin but routine maintainence. (still have some 1993's) Also back in the summer I took a trip down to the Statesville-Charlotte N.C. area and I got 26.5 mpg on the way back home. This was with about 5000 miles on the car. Very happy with the mileage although I do plan on losing some when I go with the 4:10's.

You're mileage will only get better! On long road trips, I get 25+ mpg at 75-80 mph. The MM is a great cruiser along with being a rush in the redlight derby.
