View Full Version : My Rant!!

Haggis

I'm tired of all the BS. Tired of getting up Monday - Friday at 4:50am to leave for work, tired of commuting a hour to work each and every day and then a hour home every afternoon. Tired of dealing with the idiots on the road who do not know how to drive in the rain and also do not know how to drive when the roads are dry. Tired of the people here at work and dealing with their patheic lazy a** attitudes and BS PHDs.

I am just tired of life in general and dealing with people, I need to find a place way out in the wilderness and not see another human for weeks at a time. Depend on my self for food and survival and not give a sh** on who is or isn't the President or whatever idiot is in congress. Tell them to take their taxes and social programs and shove it so far up their A$$!!

I am at the point to just tell everyone to STFU and leave me the F alone.

As to your comments, I am just in a piss a** mood.

Working 12 hr days 21 straight does the same thing to me, but I found a couple things that help:

Don't read the newspaper or watch CNN.

Drink a couple - 'tree beers, with a shot or two of Maker's Mark on the side. ;)

Holy Moly, Gordon. You about ready to blow. Sounds like you are fed up with tea people at the Cracker Barrel.

What helps me is to take a step back and look around at all the people who don't have the skills, education, intelligence and health that I have. The ones that get up every day and do what they do, sometimes with a lot more effort on their part then it takes me to do what I do.
They overcome their limitations and in doing so enable me to live a better life.

Seeing them is proof that I can also overcome not only my own limitations but the limitations of others wether those limitations are self imposed or not.

That should take care of it. I don't think too serious anymore just take life a day at a time and things don't get too big to handle. You are not alone in your thinking. I have to reassure my 70 Yr. old brother all time that we will live through it. Just think that you are not in a wheelchair or bed ridden in pain. I get tired of going to work and putting up with people there and know I will have to for years ahead . I understand your pain.

I hear ya' Gordon!

I grew up in the MD/DC suburbs before moving to the Baltimore area.
I had to get away from those friggin' idiot drivers in Montgomery County,
not to mention all the "Diplomats" running into and killing people with no legal recourse.
Now the Baltmore area is as bad as Mont. Co./DC.....:mad2:

I keep threatening to move to Wyoming and become a Park Ranger.
(Marianne tells me "NO" because of the wicked cold winters out there.)
Wyoming is beautiful, big and its' population is less than the District of Columbia's, and half that of Montgomery County.

I gave my TV away and stopped reading the newspapers. That helped a lot! About the only traffic I have to deal with out here is deer.

Your always welcome to come on out and do some camping if you like. Bring some guns too. I've got loads of raccoons, pigeons, and coyotes that need killing.

Heck, if you like it enough, my brother has got a very nice 4 bedroom, 2 bath home for rent next month. That should go fo about $450-$500/month and includes a large two car garage and a enough pole barn space to store probably a dozen or more cars.

Dang it Joe! ^^^

I think I'm going to have put my "Rancho Deluxe" DVD in my computer and just zone out for a while. If you haven't seen it, see if netflix has it. Or better yet, I bought it for $6.99 from Oldies.com.(shipped!). It features Jeff Bridges, Wyoming, Cattle rustlers, a Sharps .50 caliber Buffalo gun, Ford trucks, some hot chicks, and Slim Pickins..what else does a movie really need?

That is a an extremely tempting offer!!! Can't swing it though. I will let you running around and howl at the moon all you want on the rest of my 980 acres though. Just find some black caps, crush 'em up and you'll have some great war paint for your face. That is very, very therapeutic. Trust me.

As a bonus, during the winter months you can write Harry Reids name in the snow....in the front yard, and now one will care. Only the deer, raccoons, coyotes and pigeons will see it and they've never complained to me.

What Joe said Gord, (Awesome pics Joe!!) but moving a few thousand km north means you'd be in an area just like Wyoming, but with three times the land area. And just as pretty.

But the winters are not for amateurs. They can be stunningly beautiful too. Harsh, but beautiful. I can set you up with people who will ensure you don't have to deal with time intervals less than a 'season'.

I need to find a place way out in the wilderness ......

H3LL you already live out in the wilderness or at least a heck of alot closer to the wilderness than I do. :P

I put up with much of the same crap that you do every day. My 13 mile commute takes nearly 45 minutes in the morning and between 1:00 hour to 1:15 hours depending on the day. Fridays around Northern Virginia are the worst. And, I have to put up with those same idiot drivers who are doing just about everything in their car BUT driving. Its frustrating .....

But not frustrating enough to checkout on mankind ...... It all goes away when I get home. Work is frustrating too but for a different reason. Most of the time I like my job and really like the company that I am working for.

Sometimes I think that I would like to move to Montana (maybe Wyoming now after Joe's pics); but I know zip, nothing, nada about cows, chickens and beefs. Only what they look like in the meat section of the grocery store.

Try not to let all of life's little aggravations get to you. It ain't worth it. It certainly isn't worth your health or your mental health. Maybe I have mellowed over time .... but I tend NOT to get worked up about stuff at work anymore .... it'll go around and come around over and over again.

In Short ..... LIGHTEN UP FRANCIS.

If she can cook, and split firewood I think we might have a deal!

To the rest of you guys, CUT IT OUT! I might be trading off some land to Gordon in exchange for his 19 year old neice and a meatloaf sandwich.

Gordon deffinately needs to move out here and soon! Gordon, you'll fit right in except you may need to trade in the haggis for lutefisk and lefse. Learning some Norweigian would also help but just knowing what "uffda" means is probably good enough for now.

Try this, it has helped me. Put a copy on the fridge and a copy in your wallet. Recite it when times get tough.

Serenity Prayer

The Serenity Prayer is the common name for an originally untitled prayer (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/wiki/Prayer) by the theologian Reinhold Niebuhr (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/wiki/Reinhold_Niebuhr).
The best-known form is:

God, grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference.
The extended version:

God, grant us the... Serenity to accept things we cannot change, Courage to change the things we can, and the Wisdom to know the difference Patience for the things that take time Appreciation for all that we have, and Tolerance for those with different struggles Freedom to live beyond the limitations of our past ways, the Ability to feel your love for us and our love for each other and the Strength to get up and try again even when we feel it is hopeless.

there's always my home town of sioux falls, sd. Things are a lot slower there. Ten minutes to drive across town, strangers say "hi" to you and the city's namesake is beautiful as shown below.

This is my dream...to be stranded on an island like the one in this picture...and never see another human being or care about anything other than what to eat for lunch for the rest of my life....I'd even eat nothing but crabs and coconuts, and I'm not a big fan of either...
This is my island paradies FTW!!:banana2: 22248
