Well after hearing all of the info from everyone. I have decided to swap out my SW mufflers and res delete tips. I am going to purchase magnaflows and install the factory tips. My only question is what model/type and what size will I need. Figured I would ask before I lifted this thing up to make some measurements. :D
BTW: the SW parts being removed will be for sale as soon as they are off the car. Best offer...

I installed Maganflow # 12255. They are 18" stainless, 2 1/4" in /out. Stock tips. If you leave the 2nd set of cats, not much sound improvement. I deleted mine and it sounds great. Put in a JLT and it really sounds sweet. Then get a tune and 4.10 gears. I'm still waiting on installing my gear set. The tune eliminated the slight drone when the converter locks at low speeds.

Let me know what SW parts you are removing. What's wrong with the mufflers? Are they the chambered or turbo mufflers?

they should be straight thru turbo mufflers... I have them on my car too.

on the SW invoice? Interesting indeed that they describe them that way. They are raspy because when the tube goes in it doesn't really act like a turbo muffler, instead the exhaust is dumped into chambers like in this pic:

Do you think these will work with the complete SW system? IIRC the SW is a 3" system...hmmm. I purchased the entire exhaust from them. I just want to remove the mufflers and tips.

I will be removing the mufflers and tips. There is nothing wrong with them. I have only had them on there for a couple thousand miles. Its just not my taste in sound.

look under your car, it'll be pretty obvious if it's 3". Better yet it might be on the invoice. Do they even offer a full 3"? Either way, if you have 3" just get your muffler with 3" inlet

Ok...two different styles:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-11226/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-12255/All/
Which would be the best choice. Im pretty sure that the 2.25 could be expanded to fit. Or should i see if the shorter magnaflow will work with the correct size inlet etc...
Sorry for all of the questions. Just didnt plan on doing this twice. I would hate to have to do it a third time.

dunno man, I had straight through mufflers in the past and they were loud as hell so I'm not a fan either way. Not really into loud cars that aren't fast honestly. What I can tell you is that shorter mufflers are louder, and you can def find the longer one with the right inlet and outlet.
PS don't waste money swapping the tips back, it won't make much difference.

I have Magnaflow 18" 2 1/2" mufflers with Kooks headers. They sound quiet at idle and cruise and are loud at WOT.

Is this with stock converters or aftermarket? What part # are those magnaflows you have? Sounds good.

No idea what the part number was on the mufflers, took em off 3 or 4 years ago when I moved to 3" exhaust. The straight through cans were unnecessarily loud.
So that was straight thru mufflers not the 3" exhaust? What about the cats? Was all four on the car or deleted 2 or all?

Wanted to thank everyone for the info. I pulled the stainless works mufflers off and swapped with magnaflows. I also installed the stock megs tips. Night and day difference! This is a great sounding setup. The stainless works mufflers are in the parts for sale section along with a complete exhaust including another set of stock tips.
THANKS AGAIN!
