First if you are Part of the Mercury Marauder Team.
When is the Performance catalog coming out?
Supercharger Kit?
Gods Head Loggos to replace the stupid waterfalls on the front and back?
I'm also trying to get a showroom poster.
Thanks in advance and welcome.

I think it is a credit to the Mercury Marauder Team that they are taking the time to check this site for feedback. There is probably no other site that they could go to where they will get more honest and knowledgeable info from the buyers of their cars. I just hope that they have some pull with Ford Corporate to initiate some of our suggestions.

There are actually about 15 Ford employees/managers/execs who check out this site fairly regularly...

If, in fact, it is true that some of the employees at Ford are reading this, it would be nice to have, in writing, a letter or statement from them clearing the air on which mods will not void the factory warranty. I understand the legalities of the issue and wonder why my dealer in Chicago is so unwilling to comply with the spirit of the law. Without getting into a lawsuit over something before it has happpened (a claim under warranty for repair of an item unrelated to a mod) it would be nice for them to clear the air with their dealers so that I may proceed to enjoy the car I paid for to the fullest extent possible.

Good luck. That's like asking a cop to put in writing how far above the speed limit you can go without getting a ticket. :p

It may state something about modifications in you owner's manual. From memory, mine stated something about modifying the vehicle for race or other purposes would void the warranty. I don't remember how much detail it gave. Read through your owner's manual to see if anything is there.

If the Ford people are reading this board, my questions would be:

1) The owners are putting in a few of the same mods; chip, 410 rear end, etc. Any chance Ford would put them in at the factory? Believe me, the cars would sell way better.

2) This is a great froum. I know the Ford/Mercury people are busy and cannot answer our questions. However, would it be feasible for Logan to create a form for us to post ideas for them to read, understanding we will not receive personal replies?

Jim

I would like just a Factory Mod Kit,Gears, Reflashed Computer,Maybe an Air Intake.
All Factory Approved with an EO number and Maintain warrenty or SPELL OUT EXACTLY what part of the warrenty thats lost.
This could be a factory hop up kit priced at about $800- $1000.
Put the info in OAISES so all dealers know it's still under warrenty.

I can't see Factory installed gears,The hit to CAFE would be to great.
But how many SVT dealers turn there backs to gears? Most I bet, unless you break an axle.

I don't think the extra 325 rpm would kill the 100,000 mile durability.

I would like to ask why the oil pressure guage is bogus

Yeah, that would be great. I would absolutely buy such a kit if Ford made it available in that price range.

I really would like for them to fix this oil gage issue. I think it was really a cheep shot. and expected more out of them, especially after all the " return of the muscle car " hype

To Ford it don't need to be fixed cus it aint broken!
I'm sure we all know that an oil pressure gauge flux's with temp. and RPM,but Ford got tired of trying to explain that about 10 years ago so they made the gauges read "right" all the time.

What I don't understand is why the owners manual notes a range of pressures as normal but it's "set" at 62.???
Anyway this issue has been beat to death on this board and at least 3 other Ford boards I know of.

I would venture to guess that the "range" is quoted to cover manufacturing tolerances of all the parts in the system- sender, effects of temp on the sender itself, age and guage tolerances. If they said "your guage will read 60", the first one that read 10% +/- would be back at the dealer for sure.

I agree - I wish they used a real guage though.

It's not a bad idea. You know Mercury used to sell performance kits over the parts counter.

They could put together a kit based on the S55 that was at SEMA and sell that over the counter as well

When we were young, none of us (probably) could afford cars that actually had warranties. So we went out with the cars we had and hopped them up, added all the power doo dads and if we were unlucky (read: stupid) blew something up and paid money to fix it. Now, look at us. We have some money now, we go out and buy a neat car, we still want to go quicker so we add a few doo dads to hop it up, and we are concerned about whether the warranty will cover the damage done if we are unlucky (read: stupid). Are we ******s or what? Be a man. Stop worrying about doing something stupid. We probably do something stupid everyday, right? The hell with the warranty. If it breaks, fix it. It's only money.

Amen, brother. Modding is like playing with matches. Its fun, but if you get carried away, you can burn the house down. In my case, I was stupid and took it to the wrong place. :(

Yeah what he said!
Only problem is my wife does'nt see it that way.
I bought a Mustang in 1985 not as much to lose when it only has a 12month warrenty, plus I knew it was going to be raced.Got 247 runs out of the trans before I broke it.
With all the electronics that can go wrong I don't want to lose coverage because of a set of gears. Theres just too much to lose now.
Truth is I don't want any hassle with dealers.

In my experience, wives don't come with any warranty either.

To team Marauder: Why not try and market an X-100 like in '69-70? Let the factory (SVT) put in a charger? They could still keep the "base" Marauder! I know I would trade mine in for a factory ride with the "goodies"

Warrenty/trade-in/etc. All good points which I debated several years ago when my '89 GM went past 150,000. I'm from the old Marauder era, so I thought, if I can't buy it in a new one (back then), and I can't get anything for this old girl (told it was junk), time to build a clone without concerns for warranty, wife's comments, etc. And a heck of a lot cheaper than paying for a new one (reason given to wife), and then moding it. So I'm driving a Marauder clone with a new power train, gears, and suspension. The blower is being "upgraded". Next will be a crack at water injection to see if there's any benefit. Why? Because now the old gal is a guinea pig to test what I'll be doing to the new Marauder when I get it. Why a new one? Because the fundamentals are in the chassis, and that's were the real improvement in the new Marauder lies from my point of view. Right now, it's probably a KB version. Waiting for my local dealer to accept an order for a Silver one, but he won't take it yet. Says his opinion is late next year at best because of the cut back in the GM production rate. It also could be because he's got 4 black ones waiting to be sold. Anyone heard about a probable order acceptance and delivery date for a silver one? And my license plate will read: GRYGHST
