Does anyone know if there is a higher octane available anywhere close by, than the usual "premium" I've heard of some 94 - 96 over the stateline, but I'm looking for something closer.

I am kinda interested in this too - even in IL or WI as I travel a bit here and there. I know that racing fuel can be had around here but it's something like $2.25 - $2.50 per gallon for 103 octane or something like that.

What do you guys pay for that stuff when you hit the track?

Thanks,
-A

All I know is the Racing Fuel at the Clark Station (100 Octane) isn't it bad for cat. converter equipped vehicles?

Racing fuel comes in leaded and unleaded flavors. Sunoco makes an unleaded racing fuel as does VP fuels. You should be able to search each of their websites and find locations that sell their fuels.

Sunoco: http://www.racegas.com/

VP Fuels: http://www.vpracingfuels.com/index2.html?mgiToken=0C15B7C83 2B3E1E255

Hey Big Joe P check with Wags. I think he said there is a station in Downers Grove. BUT he also said it is/was $3.39 a gallon!

Big Joe,

I get mine for my Chevelle in Downers Grove. They have 100 Cam Plus 2 racing fuel there. But I think that they stop selling in over the winter months, only to return in late spring. I have not been there for awhile, since the car is tucked away for the winter. A place in Naperville has it also, but it is also seasonal. You should not need it for the Marauder, if that's what you want it for, unless you have really modded the comp on the motor. I run around 11.5 on the motor in the Chevelle now, and that's why I need the higher rated fuel. For a Marauder with stock internals, it really would not make a difference for you, but I'll check if they still have it available.

I can comment on this. Ther is a Delta Sonic / Citgo in Downers Grove on Ogden that has 100 octane for ~$3.60 a gallon. That's pretty good compared to the track prices of ~$5.50 or more.

Gas City on Exchange about 1 mile east of State Line has 100 octane pump gas.

Closest intersection is I394 and exchange if you ever get out this way.

I do feel obligated to point out that Citgo and Marathon are the only U.S. companies that DO NOT import oil from the Middle East if that matters to anyone, it does to me.

Found a place to get 100 octane. Gas City 131 LaGrange (rt45). I usually pump 5gal of this and then top with 92. my MM likes this mix real well, makes her purr...... Was over in Michigan two weeks ago and pumped some Sunoco 93+ MM runs well on that also. Hope that this helps.

Have you tired the Marathon station on the corner of 79th and Roberts Road in Justice? They have had racing gas for quite sometime. :coolman:

Not exactly close to Chicago but in Elgin, there's a Marathon on McLean and Rt. 20 that sells 100 Oct. Racing fuel.

You might however......(and actually a better alternative to racing fuel) go out to your local small airport and see if the local FBO will let you fill up with 100 LL AvGas.

Car runs like a ***** ape with that in it!! (and it's usually a buck cheaper per gallon than what you pay at the gas stations for "racing fuel".)

On my way up to Lake Geneva I noticed the Citgo on Rt12 in Fox Lake advertised racing fuel. The sign says 110 octane. Didn't stop to check the price though.
