Hey All - I must suck at the search tool, it fails me everytime. I would like to know where the best deal on a set of the GMS COP connectors. From what I understand from the bazillion posts about coil related issues, the boot is the major cause for problems. Any help / feedback is welcome and thanks in advance. Just turned 31k! Had it one month so far.

Lightning force performance sells them for $97. Thats the cheapest around.

Moisture is the biggest cause for coil failures. A little silicone around the coil cover prevents any problems

What's your take on these? I have that dredded bog sometimes as if it cant handle the air from the JLT at moderate take off. Then while driving at 40 and the OD off, I get back in it gently and it stumbles a little. When I get on it harder and it drops a gear it 'winds up' and accelerates good- Ive changed the fuel filter and did a throttle body cleaning and although it's helped hasnt solved it. Ive read damn near all the threads on these symptoms and coils always come up - then boots and connectors. I dont mind spending a C note on these if it's a good upgrade. Sorry for the 'Novel' and thanks.

The issue you described is a coil problem. The COP connectors are a good upgrade, LFP's are made by Granatelli and are exactly the same.
My advice to you would be to put in some Autolite XP104 spark plugs, LFP connectors and new OEM coil packs.

The stumble sounds like a coil ready to go. Musclemerc has a great connection for coils at the best price around. The GMS connectors smooth the idle down and are supposed to give better response. They won't take care of the bog.
I had a bog when I installed my CAI without a tune.

Wow! and only 31k miles. The LFP's are the connector kits, correct? Thanks, I will certainly look into these. I hear there's someone here that has a deal on the OEM coils?

Will look into the coils. my 1st marauder had A Lidio tune for 3.55 and 91 and I remember it didnt bog either. It's not bad but maybe a tune is on my list as well. Thanks!

I would get the COPS first as the car has been fine for this long. My old ones sputtered BAD. Connectors won't help out much if you have a coil on the way out. Musclemerc FTW!

the gms connectors are also much easier to ensure they are fully on. when i pulled my coils off for the first time, the stock springs got all stretched and were trashed. good thing i pulled them to install the gms connectors and new plugs.

What is the part number for the OEM coils?
I came across all these numbers as far as 4v coils.

Just ordered the GMS kit. Thanks blackened! - Im curious on the coil P/N too. Im about to jump on MuscleMerc's deal. Killer! I figure it's when and not if these go bad. Is there a laymen's way to bench test the old ones? Wouldnt be bad to have some spares. Seriously considering the plug change too if I can get over the fear of busting one off in the head. HORROR stories! ( although at 31k miles I dont think plugs are needed ).

Ford charges $115 here to load test the COPS. Or you could do Musclemercs deal for BRAND NEW ones and save a few bucks.

It's all pretty straight forward. Take off, put on. Dielectric grease for the COP connectors and if your replacing plugs put a dab of antisieze on the thread and TQ to 11ftlbs.

Like you all said, they were a breeze to install. I was amazed on how easily the stock connectors came off the plugs. Almost like the boot held it on the plug. Very easy to do this upgrade. Started and ran it until the temp jumped up and then took it for a drive. I noticed a much smoother idle at the stop lights and taking off slowly is much smoother too. Later, I was able to drive it longer and a little harder. That dreaded 40 mph roll / back on throttle / stumble /Into pedal a little more it goes away BS was a lot less noticeable if there at all. It's money well spent and I did it myself. Add one to my can do list.
