We're spending some time before and after MV8 in these areas. We/I will do the Biltmore. What train and auto museums are in these areas and in between that are worth exploring? Anything mechanical is right up our alley.

If you're up for a two hour drive south and west of Charlotte, I'd recommend checking out the BMW museum and manufactuing tour in Greer, SC. This plant builds the BMW X5 and X6 models.

Also, you can pick up I-26 just north of Greer and take a nice leisurely drive back up toward Ashville.

As long as you're planning to go to Asheville and Biltmore, go up the Blue Ridge Pkwy at least to Linville Falls and the Linville Viaduct.

I have been to the NC auto racing HOF museum. It is in Mooresville, NC along with all of the race shops and it is worth going to.

Mount Mitchell, view is unreal. Asheville to Banner Elk on the parkway is super nice.
