View Full Version : So I got my marauder back from the shop a couple weeks ago.

And it's ****!
First off, I really wasn't happy when I picked up the car, the guys were giving me the run around on not being able to find the fog-lights. So I gave them Chris at ADTR's number to get them asap, and they still screwed off about getting them. So I told them I needed my car, and I would bring it back when they got them in. Don't worry my insurance guaranteed this shop to fix my car, right???
Well apparently they think im stupid or something, I got there and immediately noticed that the front bumper wasn't on right, he said he would fix it when he put the fog-lights in. The spoiler I had them put on is off-center by a tiny bit. (Dad told me not to bother with it) and the rear bumper they painted looks ok.
But removing the rear bumper they took all my trunk lining out and did a half ass job putting it back together. So during the past few weeks ive noticed more and more bs.
The hood wobbles like its gonna open on the freeway, I cant pop the hood without banging on it. There is a "****-ton" of imperfections in the paint on the hood and front end, and it looks like they didn't even blend it.
The driver-side door running board trim is put on like crap.
And last but not least, the horn they replaced (if you wanna call it that) sounds unbelievably horrible. I am embarrassed to honk at people.
My pop heard it and started singing the love boat theme.
As you can believe when I take this back to them, im gonna have a talk with them about taking a little more pride in their work.
Prolly will upload a video review later on, because.. you gotta hear the horn.. :)

Im gonna try one last time with the shop, and tell them to do it right. If not then to the insurance.

That sux! One of the big problems today is no pride in workmanship.
P.S. can't wait to hear the horn. :D

i would not deal with the shop personally, some insurance companies hate that and you may piss them off. just take some pictures of your car the way it is and find a marauder the way it should be, send the pics to them and see what they say. the shop will probably ignore you but when an insurance company calls they get on their knees, save yourself the stress.

A good insurance company will penalize them for bad work.
Good Luck!

I had a car repaired like yours once. It was one of their gauranteed shops. I called the insurance company directly and they had me take it to another shop. The work was som ad they ended up repainting the majority of the car. My advice, call the insurance company first.

+1
Don't go back to that shop, you talking to them won't make then suddenly care more and sprout integrity.

Document everything now before taking the car back to them and if stuff still isn't fixed to your liking don't take the care and call your insurance agent or broker and explain what's going on.

Different shop in a different state, but when I had my car repaired they actually aimed the door trim angled slightly down from front to back. When I complained they were willing to fix it but they wanted to make them level with the ground... which was just as bad. I ended up being there when they ran a tape line from the seam of the front bumper to the seam of the rear bumper so that the trim angled properly.
If their work hadn't been so good otherwise it would have bugged me more and I probably would have complained to the ins co. But they did do what I wanted and they made sure that they had my approval before they put the trim on the second time.
In your position I wouldn't want my car going back to that particular repair facility.
In the end it is about you being satisfied with the repair. Your insurance company is supposed to be your advocate, not your enemy.

Your insurance company will have more sway than you ever will. These shops depend on them for business, and if they aren't up to their standards, can get dropped.

Yuck. Good luck with this.
How about a video of that horn? :)
I had a car repaired like yours once. It was one of their guaranteed shops. I called the insurance company directly and they had me take it to another shop. My buddy had his '04 GMQ repaired at the insurance company's "guaranteed" shop once. Minor front end damage, car driveable, just some paint issues and in need of a new header panel.
Got it back with missing pinstripe, a door molding that was falling off (loose), misaligned hood and fenders, and the power window not working. I noticed all of these things within 5 minutes of seeing the car. He somehow missed half of them.
Never will I trust any shop that is guaranteed by an insurance company. Luckily in Ohio we are allowed to choose wherever we want to have the work done.

Lucky.. wish I coulda chose which shop did it.. I still haven't taken it back yet due to my wallet being empty.. I let him know what was going on. And im prolly gonna take it in next week.
I will take a small video of the crappy work.. and the Love Boat horn when I get a chance (most likely tommarow).
Bon Voyage!!!

I took a video, not the best quality.. And left out the hood opening problem and a couple other things, but you can kinda see that crap work on the paint.

Welp the horn is loud! lol - I don't think it looks too bad. The rear spolier is off by just a bit. I did see the marks on the hood. Those shouldn't be there.
Other than that from the brief video your MM looks pretty clean. I'm sure it's easier in person to see the flaws.

I could see the spots in the paint on the hood, that's no good!
