View Full Version : Only When it is Clean & Shiny
Bluerauder

I hate to say it; but I have been riding around for the past few weeks with a dirty, filthy Marauder. We've had rain off and on so I just figured that it wasn't worth it. As a daily driver, it was just gonna pick up the road grime. In that time, no one said a word about the car.
Yesterday morning, the Bluerauder got a bath and a shine and garnered several comments during the day .....
1. Guy at the gas station came over to remark on the car and then asked whether the "Fireman" wheels were special order items.
2. Passing through the gate at the local base, the gate guard noted that "You are certainly keeping your car nice and clean". :D
3. After picking up some "things" at Lowe's, a young guy about 14-15 years old with his family got out of a Ford Expedition and walked over to ask if the MM originally came in "that Blue color". He said that he was familiar with the Black, Silver and Red; but had never seen a Blue before. I chatted with him for about 5 minutes and gave him the short version of the MM story and an MM.Net calling card. Told him to visit the site and check it out. Maybe he is here now as a Marauder Enthusiast.
Folks certainly appreciate the car when it is looking good. Not so much when I get a little lazy.

I get so many fireman comments about my front grille and trunk emblem all the time. lol
Just remember Silver looks clean for a good month without washing, just have to wipe the wheels down and good to go. lol Even though I've never gone more than 2 weeks without washing mine.

That's too much waxing.
A good cost of wax should last for months if the paint was cleaned properly before it is applied i.e. clay-bar, polish compound.

I usually wax mine in october befor winter, and again around March whenever it finally stops raining for a day or two. That's it.
And firemen, lol! Yeah, the old Mercury logo looked faster and less fireman-like.

I hear you Charlie, this is the first year ever I have let mine remain filthy. Not a single compliment either untill shined up (half ass'd) then the compliments never seem to stop around here. Deffinately a HUGE difference in people noticing. I still love the car and all, but tired off all the dusting daily b.s. I am concentrating on ENJOYING it this year. :)
