I believe billygman used to back in the day but he no longer has his mm. Use the search button

Most guys that run them use their MM exclusively for the track.

A daily driver MM is not really good with 4.56's on the street.

^+ im sure it would be very anoying on the highway.

...and if the only reason you want them is for autocross, I'd forget it.

I used to run 4.10's and even that was annoying on the freeway.
BillyGman used his MM for a daily driver with 4.56's.

I understand the car was a fricken monster from a start.

What was annoying about the 4.10"s?

If you want a quite Cadillac experience keep the stock gear ratio.

John Kuhn is running some pretty low gears in his, but not sure if the 4.56s; send him a PM.

+1, I agree--try 430's -really annoying and loud to me--so it must be .......what.............opinio nated...then...as 410's are the best set-up for overall driving with zip!

Most of the Auto-X events I run, I'm either hitting the rev limiter in 1st gear or I'm in the lower RPM range in 2nd gear. I was thinking 4.56 gears would allow me to run deeper in 2nd gear.

I wouldn't go more than 4.10's.

I thought I remembered reading that something in the rearend had to be modified when installing 4.56 gears in the 8.8 housing?

I also thought I saw a chart or Excel sheet that showed the engine RPM in each gear for the various gears?

Yes, I've used the search function.

I've had 4:30's for 4 years and just drove to michigan and back completing almost 1000 miles, getting 20mpg on the freeway. No issues here:dunno:

Google is your friend

PS the difference at 75mph between 4.10 and 4.56 is only 200 and some rpm. . .

The ring gear is too big to allow the spider gear center pin to come out. You have to grind down one of the ring gear teeth so it'll go in or out. I ran 4.56 in a Bronco I had, far as I know their 8.8's would be the same. Richmond Gear said that the grinding was fine. I assume that with 4.10's you're already running the larger carrier, those are the only hurdles I know of.

4:56 gears.... are you pulling stumps?

I have 4.56 on mine. No grinding required. Thing is wicked fast out of the hole but limited at the top end.

That's not true. Gears are gears, the only thing that changes is the number of teeth. The dimension of the ring and pinion gears don't change..... :shake:

Not true.....

Where do you people get your information?????????????????

Didn't have to change carrier to run 4.10's :shake::shake:

I have 4.30s in mine. I would use 4.10 if it was a daily driver.

Pinion and ring gear dimensions change with ratio. For example a 3.55 pinion looks like a monster next to a 4.56, whereas the 4.56 ring gear is huge compared to a 3.55. As far as changing carriers, they are different in the 80-96 F series. I know this because I used to regear Ford trucks with big tires on a regular basis about 10 years ago. Must be different inside a Marauder 8.8, apologies to the experts.

Had 4:10s in mine for years. The only issue is when they were installed the wrong way and blew up, literally... wasn't my doing believe it or not. Other than that, they have been great. It's a blast off the line to about 130.

How about a 9" Ford rear end. Then I could change carriers whenever I wanted. Anyone know of a 9" Ford kit to fit the Marauder?

I don't think N/A has quite the same length of runout in terms of speed vs. pull. :P
