View Full Version : My marauder gets too much attention?

I've had the car for almost 2 months now and I must say it gets noticed a lot! More then my old 1992 5.0L ever did!! Whether its people thinking its a cop car on the highway, people wondering what kind of car it is or from people that actually know what's up. So far two guys asked me if the car was for sale and some drunk guy at the liquor store tried to get into my car while I was parked LOL good thing I had it in drive but pressing on the brakes so the doors were locked haha
So I leave the store, get into my car and I see this guy with his buddy pull up in a blue van. They park next to me. I am slowly reversing as I am leaving the store but as a put it in drive this guy jumps right in front of my car...wtf right?....so I roll down the window to tell the guy to get out of the way but as I do that he looks at the car and says "damn!!!! is that a mercury marauder!!!??? It looks so nice, all shiny with the wheels....oh and leather too!!! with the logo embedded in the seats wow!!!!" LOL he basically has his head in the car at this point and I clearly notice that he reeks of booze and he is not making too much sens either...so at this point i try to stay polite but tell him I have to go and that's when he tries to open my door....I'm assuming he just wanted to see the inside of the car or rob me ahahhaah.....its nice too get attention but that was a little too much for my taste!!!!!funny story!!!!i had to share!

Drunk people love marauders!
I had a drunk homeless dude yelling at me while my radio was turned up. I turned it down and he was saying how he loved my car and that you don't see too many Mercurys decked out like mine. He had a nice brown paper bag in his hand the shape of a bottle of liquor! ahaha

I got in my car after not driving it for a week and got two complements in the same gas station. And they were both driving chevys. An old s10 and a young girl in a 2002 camaro ss.
i get asked atleast twice a week "is you selling your car" or "Damn that ***** nice yo"Ive gotten used to it especially at the gas station. i just tell people 30K when they ask. im thinking about putting a "NOT FOR SALE" sign in the window. so i could just point. One guy after i told hime no wanted to give me his number incase i ever do sell it.

lol, I like that idea.
Occasionally, back when the car was a little younger than it is now, when asked what price I'd sell it for I'd tell them they had to make me independently wealthy before I'd even consider.

Yup....everyone has their price. If I were to get mine, I would be at the Ford dealership the next day buying a new 5.0L :D

It is a rarity that I get a compliment on mine here, not because it is not washed. It is a rare occasion to see one here and I guess so few were sold that they think they are just Mercurys. I guess if I want compliments on the car i will hang out in front of a liquor store.

Same here but when they mention Crown Vic or asking if it has a Interceptor 5.0 motor in it, I usually just say I gotta go.

Is there any truth to the rumor than Northern Canadians have high cheekbones due to proping up their faces with thier hands whilst passed out the bar, and Southern Canadians have flat foreheads for resting face down whilst passed out at the bar?

Strange that this thread pops up, when the gf and I went to test drive a new Challeneger and SRT-8 300, all the salesmen were drooling over the car saying how awesome it is and this, that and the other. It was really nice to have all those compliments from them.

WTF guy jump in front of car, guy puts head in car, guy tries to open door? Those are all violations, sounds like u need to invest in a CCW license. I would have flashed my 9mm, i didnt say point or shoot, i said flash it. I dont mind people admiring the car, but if you put me in a situation where i feel like i may be in danger, i will let it be known that im not alone.

Well i'm from southern Canada and i have high cheekbones from propping up my head at the kitchen table, and i also have a bump on my forehead not a flat forehead, so there!
Come to think of it though if i would just put my head down on the table to start with i wouldn't have the high cheekbones and i would have a flat forehead with no bump from crashing down!

LOL It happened again!!!!!!Well not exactly, once again I was at the liquor store ( I do enjoy my beer ahhaah) and some guy came up and said "Man, you must enjoy that Marauder, ITS NICE". This guy was much more sober then the other one and didnt try to get in my car! LOL
So its official, if you guys want compliments about your cars go hang out infront of the liquor store. Beer drinkers know their cars!!!!hahaha Maybe I should organise a Marauder meet infront of that store so we can all get compliments about our cars!

I didnt say a word until I walked out and he was walking around it saying D******M, this is nice. I love it!!!!

You would think I am making this up as I keep getting compliments on my car but yesterday the guy that cuts my grass said "Cool Marauder, have you taken it to the track yet". The compliments never stop with this thing! Its awesome! LOL and the best thing was that my dad was over for beers and he has a 2002 SL 500 but got no compliments haha
So thats like 4 compliments in a few weeks...pretty good average

I took the car to the tire shop for an alignment today. Had the post with specs from carfixer printed out. They remembered me and the Marauder from putting the Nittos on the rear earlier this summer. The service writer told the alignment guy that "it's the sharpest car out front" when he gave him the key. Spent a good 20 minutes talking with mechanics about Mercurys in general and Marauders in particular. One of them's father had owned a Marauder in the 60s.
Anyhow, it's sort of nice to be mobbed by enthusiastic mechanics who admire your car when you take it in for service.

Yes, and it's a shame they used that car in particular. That coach was built by Eureka, who got the smallest amount of commercial chassis in '59. That car is worth more as a true professional car then as an Ecto :(

Drop the car off today at the dealer for a carfixer's alignment and to put my snow tires on. I was in there for 20 minutes talking to the service guys and some other random guy that had a 2000 GM "High performance edition", well that's what he claims. I personally never heard of it but I let him go on since he seemed to like his car so much LOL
