OK--I have had inserts now for about close to 8 years-they are fading and not as reflective as new-so I bought new replacements---now-the instructions only talk or refer to installation as if new not replacing older ones already in place.

SO....I'm thinking .....do I try and pry off the old ones or just clean up/over the old ones and put the new ones over them?

Anyone experience this as yet?

Are you talking about the Bob Whites or the SS ones? If the old ones are in good shape, i'd just clean them up good and apply the new ones over them. If not you need a sharp poited blade and roach and forceps. May end up being a little more work trying to remove the adhesive to get a smooth surface.

I've done it a few times.

I have the Stainless Steel polished inserts "SSInserts" and they look as good as the day that I put them on about 6 years ago. :D

Marauderman, if you have the Bob White bumper inserts I believe it says on their web site how to remove them. Something about soaking them in Windex, IIRC.

Actually they are the Bob Whites......should have said that.........

Hummmnnn.......I read that on the new instructions which left me puzzled.....wasn't sure where they were referring to spray that stuff...on the old to remove or on the area to make it slippery to adjust when putting it on.........it does say that -your right.......guess need to re-check their web site for that removal section you mentioned..........

Thanks folks.....

Use denatured alcohol in a condiment squirt bottle. Get it behind them. Use a piece of fishing line like dental floss to get behind the letter and pull gently while dribbling alcohol behind.

The alky will eat the wax, but not the paint.

Use a terry rag soaked with the alky to clean up any residual sticky goo.

^This and then buy yourself a new set. Part of the 2nd A on mine has come apart so I'll buy another set soon.
