All,

It has been a while since I’ve seen LeoVampire (Dave B) around so I figured I would reach out. As of late last month he seemed to have been
riding a great 2010 with his trip to Carlisle and the wedding. But his health was affecting him and he was due to get some things straightened out.
Turns out Dave wasn’t going to catch a break this time and I got the news I was expecting but did not want to hear while sending Emails back
and forth with Francisco last night:

“David have minor stroke this is Francisco. He not so good with PC yet he still relearn right now.
He home but he stay in bed or he go with dogs to walk. His body okay but his mind need to relearn things.
He (is) frustrated so he avoid things and stuff. I tell him you write to him and see if I can get him to try sometime soon to(o)”

“Thanks you for the kind words I tell him U write but he no say much right now. He just smile when I say to him. I think he okay with people knowing he just not want in person he feel bad being not normal right now and frustrated. I not know how get into his clubs stuff so I no say nothing sooner to people. His friends sorry he not go to car shows cruises everyone ask about him on weekends I would drive him and Marauder but he no want to go and let people see him. I work every other day and nurse come every day I work so we can look after him. The dogs help much with him always want daddy to take them out so he has to do things when he home they want him to help them not me. LOL

I hope you understand what I say sometimes English is not the best but still learning.
Francisco”

So I figured I would start a thread wishing him better health in the chance that he comes by the site. There is no question he loves this car and enjoys
the site fully.

Get stronger Dave and be patient with yourself.

Best,
Jonathan

I was actually thinking the other day as to how I could try to get ahold of him and was going to ask Mary if there was any way to do so with an e-mail or something. I am glad you were able to find out for us! I had a bad feeling something wasn't right.

Get well soon Dave! Would enjoy meeting you sometime at a show!

Hope he has a speedy recovery.

When a relative had a stroke the first word he learned was sh**T. It seemed to be appropriate for everything. Learning a word, any word enables expression and reduces the frustration.

So sad to hear, Dave was one of the few that gave me encouragement, when my health was bad, and I'm glad I took his advice. Our prayers go out to him, and his family, for a swift and full recovery.

Get well soon Dave! Would enjoy meeting you sometime at a show! You know Tom...Eric and I were just saying the same thing. We weren't sure how to reach Dave, but like you we had the feeling something might be wrong. We are so sorry to hear this, but relieved to know he is making progress. It's great that Francisco is there for him...and the dogs of course!

We had the chance to meet Dave at Carlisle (he generously brought a huge amount of ribs for the grill!) and he is every bit as kind and helpful in person as he is on line. We really enjoyed talking with him. Thank you Jonathan for keeping in touch with him and sharing this e-mail. I hope you'll send our best regards to Francisco and that he will pass along the following: "Wishing you a full and speedy recovery LEO! You are missed around here and you are in our prayers!!!"

I will pull down the posts in a little while and put them in a manageable format (Word or similar) that I can pass along. It really sounds like Dave
is having a hard recovery but I know all the words here can do nothing but good so I'm making my task to ensure they get to him
even if Fran just reads them to him.

So far as I know from Fran the notion that we are all here talking about him does put a smile on his face when he hears
about it. Lets hope time and patients allows him the opportunity to join us all again.

To quote Francisco "You are very kind to him thank you".

Best,
Jonathan

Just a quick update...heard from Francisco after dropping our thread into Word and sending it over:

I print and read message to Dave (from) all of you he smile and cry a little bit when I did. So it was a good thing.
He is doing a little better he is getting up and doing more and trying to help himself more.
He and I going to see about his trying in a parking lot to drive again. We have some old factorys not (in) use anymore
and I can see how he does in (the) Taurus. He has expressed wanting to try and drive again he goes out to (the) Marauder in garage
sit in it and holds the steering wheel so I know he wants to drive again.
So going to see how he does little by little at a time.

He does have some weekness in left arm and hand we noticed so (he is) careful when he trys to wash dishes or carry stuff but he get
a hand ball and something else you sqeeze for work (on) his hand back to strength again. He has weights also for him to work with
(and) he does this every day on his own.

He not give up so this is good and he understand TV more each day. So maybe by mid winter doctor say he be more normal if he
keep working like he does now.

I keep informed of his progress. He try PC but it slow going so far words and type not so good but mouse click better eye hand ability.

Thanks for (the) words of kindness.
Francisco

Our words can sometimes mean more than what the screen shows us. Very nice job everyone.

Best,
Jonathan

Is there an update to Dave's status?

Hope you get well soon Dave.

I would say that no news is good news as I haven't heard much more in the last couple of weeks. I would venture to say progress will be slow and hard fought and I will check in w/ Dave and Francisco every so often but not so much as to be a pest. If I hear anything new I'll post it here and would ask if anyone else has been in touch to do the same.

Best,
Jonathan
