I thought I'd try something new so I had my tire guy order me a set. Usually I get stuff online but I figure I'd support them a bit.
Thank god I did...
I made it less than 1/8th mile from their shop, turned around and came back.
These tires are aweful. I would even say unsafe? The sidewall has more play than my damn ET street slicks!!!!! I take the manager around the block who is a friend and fellow gear head. He says the same thing "man these feel like slicks..." Didn't someone on here get in a wreck because of these tires?
So off they came and my worn to **** 420's are back on. I ordered another set of 420's that'll be here tomorrow.
The STZ04's would be an absolute nightmare on the freeway!!
If you have these tires and love them. You must drive so slow that an icecream truck could pass you.

03mmmonroe tried a set of these as well.
Not good.:shake:
IIRC,he ended up going with Nitto 420S, much better tire.

Never tried the S/T04 model by the Ziex S/T Z01's have done me good. Got them on the car right now and love them. Better then stock but not as good as the Nittos on other MMs I have driven.
Edit: Just checked and I no longer see the S/T Z01s available in the size I use on their website (stock size up front, 255/55s in the rear) on their website. Guess it will be Nitto tires next time for me.
Rating a tire when its brand new is not a good idea. There is a slick coating on the tires from the factory that takes up to days to go away.
My friend from high school died after he goosed the gas on a brand new back tire on his motorcycle....went right through the picture window of a day care center.

I just replaced the rears and they told me they are discontinued. I have had them up to 135mph at the track and straigt as rails.

I seem to remember this too. About 4 years ago, I think. Too much sidewall flex and roll was suspected as I recall.

Thanks for the heads up. I too like the idea of a stiff side wall less tire roll better road feel. I just purchased two new oem rear tires from town fair tire. I have used them before. They gurantee the lowest price. The only draw back a stiffer side wall make for a harder ride. I wish there was an in between I new of.
The only tires ill ever buy again for my Marauders are light-truck tires.

Wes is the one that had them on his DTR when he crashed it. I just put a set of them on my car, and that's the first thing he said the other day when he saw them on the car. I've only got a few miles on the tires so far, but I haven't really had any problems or noticed anything dangerous, but I've only got about 50 highway miles on them, and probably another 50 in town.

Be VERY careful when attemptingane changes at speed. I was in 03mmmonroe's car after he'd installed a new set of these and he scared the crap out of me, back end started getting all squirrelly when he swung out to pass a car. NOT good...

Had a set of Falkers on my MM for about 40,000. Do not remember the exact tire but it was a suv type tire. They sucked, with a capital S. Never stuck good, never rode well and were unreal loud at highway speed. Replaced with some Goodyears and it is night and day mo better. Swore off Falkers of any kind.

That would be a good fit for that 460 big-block on my engine stand. :P

My Falken Ziex tires are champ....
Only problem I've had is uneven wear (crappy factory alignment problem). Plus if you don't like running factory sizes, these are 245/45/18 all around.

I can reccomend the STz 01. They have been discontinued.
I bought a set of BF Goodwrich and the car at speed was all over the road. It was a commercial duty truck tire on an E150.

Uh what?
Bikes are TOTALLY different than street cars when it comes to the compounds they use. Most bike tires require about 50-70 miles of break in. As for street tire, I don't buy that for a second based on my track experiences. I put brand new Nitto's on. Drove 30 miles to the road race track and cut out some of my best lap times around Millers West track with a 550+ hp mustang. Also I've had new drag radials mounted, installed them AT THE Track. My wife cut her best 60's ever in her 01' Cobra.
I could literally push the car with my hands and it would sway back and forth 6-8". It wasn't a slick tire that did that.
The STZ04's are **** pure and simple.
With these on the front too, holy **** the car would drive like complete ass.

If it was anything like 03mmmonroe's car, that's 'zackly what happened.

Wes, can you share with us what happened. I did a search but could not find the post.
Uh what?

Im not disputing the 2 tires are totally different.
I do know that all tires have a slick, silicone like feel to them when new and require some miles to wear off. You've never noticed that?

Oh hell yes. of course, its a sprayed coating of silicone based tire shine to make them look pretty. Armorall type stuff...
You can always put on a new set and toke em from the parkinglot. But After about the 1/2 mile its off the tread/contact area.
What the car was doing though had nothing to do with the wheels slipping at all. They literally felt like the ET streets on my stang with 13psi in them.

I remember that day all to well....We had met for a meet at Hooters and Wes left before I did...I was on my way back home to S.A. and saw a DTR Marauder all smashed up....I told my pass. (ex girlfriend) OMG....thats Wes' car....so we did a turn around at the next exit off the highway and made sure he was all right....He bounced off a concrete construction barrier a couple of times and hit a Surburban (I believe) square in the rear....The Marauder was in bad shape....I believe 3 of the 4 airbags went off and Wes was pretty sore. He said it went squirly on him and couldnt recover. Dont know what happened before that...i.e. some one cut him off or he was just switching lanes....Thank God he was not seriously injured.

My BFG's had a little dry rot, so they were prorated. I got 50% off a new set since they weren't that worn yet. Ask your tire dealer.
