IMO..............
1) Instead of monochromatic blue, I think it should have all the trim, grille, etc. black.
2) I'm glad my car is black. That shade of blue just doesn't do anything for me.

Again, IMO.

It looks better than I thought it would, but like Racerx88, I'm glad mine is black. Now, maybe if they get around to a deep, dark red I'd be a little jealous.

Yep! That's the color I saw on a new Linciln LS before I got my Black MM. Was going to wait for the blue until I saw it. I din't like it on the LS and it doesn't look any better on the MM. It'sd just plain "UGLY!"

Agreed. This shade of blue doesn't work for me either. Still too dark for SoCal. Will keep waiting for a light color; hopefully the silver one with the same black out trim as currently used.

I think if Henry Ford saw the blue Marauder he would say "You can have the Marauder in any color you want as long as its black."

Have to agree people who want a light color(southern states) won't go for the blue.
I still think black is the color.
For the people that want lighter colors it has to be white or silver.
I happen to like the above blue.
I didn't take the time to research the blue when it was discused earlier so I was thinking it was that light metalic blue that Ford seemed to use on everything a few years ago, very glad thats not the case.

Personally i think the Marauders next colour should have been one of the shades of Silver. There are many people who have stated they are waiting for a light colour, and this Blue pearl isn't light enough.
Maybe ford isn't concerned about slow sales.

There is a colour used on the Police Interceptors, a "medium Titanium metallic" that I think would look very good on a Marauder

geez, put some lights on top, add a couple of spot lights, and you got yourself a New York State Troopers car!!

They had it on there trucks, and thought it was a great color, but I think they may have dropped it.

I don't think you'll see alot of those move off of the lots once they come in. A deeper darker blue, maybe even metalflake, or burgundy like Macon Maruader said. Ford had a nice grey a few years ago, Medium Charcoal Metallic Gray, was the color of the '85 GT I owned, that was a nice color, but not this blue...geessshhhh they were starting off good..

Can't tell from this picture how it may look in the sun, still, they should lose the chrome around the side windows.

Sorry, but I pitty the fool who buys that color. Once the dealer sees it, they're gunna puke and send the blue ones back for more black. Instead of sinister, it just looks plain jaine highway patrolish... Mine may be a ***** to keep clean, but I'd rather be in my dirty black MM than that! I'm sure ol' Henry is going "WTF... BLACK, morons!"

One word: Toreador Red (I think thats the red that the CV Sports are available in.)

That blue looks like it came off of a Hyundai. :(

There is a type of red that the Lincoln LS is available in. MM should have the same color available................

That color is an ugly as a bag full of baby ass's. Black or bust.

Although, I would entertain a shade of silver; however black is best. Just a royal pain to keep looking spiffy new, even with Zaino.

Hematite is a black chrome colored iron ore. Looks great polished. Is used in a lot of inexpensive jewelery and paperweight type things.

I like the blue. Thought it looked great on an LS. But... the only color for the Marauder is black!

Color doesn't look right to me. If you notice the blue expedition in the background it looks like that color is wrong too.
I don't think we can judge the color by this picture.

RancorKeeper

Looks similar to GM's Medium Adriatic Blue, which is pretty boring, IMO. I still think they should have use True Blue.

I dunno - I'm not too good with colors, but ir looks lighter than the SUV in the background.

It almost looks the same as my mother-in-law's Taurus SE Sport (Patriot Blue) which I thought I'd hate, but actually looks OK.

Hard to tell from a pic.

The Marauder should only have one option when it comes to exterior colors and thats BLACK, did the Buick Grand National have any options,"no" it was a fast production car and anyone can identify it by the color itself, thats the way it should be for the Marauder. When you mention the word "Marauder" the first couple of thoughts that should run thru your mind is Black and Fast. I sure hate to see the Leather Jacket Mercury offers with that color, too colorful(loud).

gonzo50: Ha ha! That's great! A pearl blue leather jacket: just like Elton John would wear.

Good point!

EWWWW!

Who you going to intimidate with that at the light??

I get it. Throw their RT off.

They will be to busy saying WT@ was that??

Should've gone with a deep blue Metallic. Something that signifies the sinister look the Marauder maintains.

I believe it's a real pic. The Expedition (I think...?) in the background has what I think they called the Denim Blue back then. I say give 'em to the police departments that are wanting MM's on the force so we "blackies" can pick 'em out like a sore thumb, while the uninformed public can't! ;)

As for the pearl blue jacket... DISCO FEAVER BABY! :D

Here is an example of the 'medium titanium metallic' used on Police Interceptors. I think it might look OK on a Marauder

I don't know about you guys, but the one thing that really grabbed me about this car when I saw the brochure and the web articles on it was the black paint job. Until I found this forum a couple of months ago, I was under the mistaken impression that it was only being released with black paint. I guess I sound like a lot of other people when I say that this car belongs in black....and only in black.

RCSignals

I think it looks best in Black. In the future Black Marauders will likely be worth more as well.

However, many potential buyers want another colour, and it is important to sell these things. Silver would probably have been better for the second colour though, as far as potential sales go.

My Christmas present arrived early..... a Pearl Blue Marauder. Dealer will prep and I pick it up on Monday. It has traction control and the heated seats. Does anyone here know if the heated seats are variable or simply on/off?
Plan to have the windows tinted and mods in spring.

A blast from the MM past. Four years ago, there seemed to be alot of speculation and criticism of the Dark Blue Pearl MM. I wonder how many have changed their minds on this now?? Some on this thread are even in the market for those "ugly' blue MMs now.

I remember the second MM I saw driving around was Blue. I wanted one soooo bad but had to wait till late '04 to buy. By then I only had DTR, SB and Black to choose from. I choose SB. Almost as cool as Blue.

Thanks for resurrecting this. Since I wasn't 'round here when the DBPs first came out, I wasn't aware
of the mild uproar that it caused. To each his own, I guess, but for me, it was love at first sight.
I, for one, am glad Ford decided to make a few in "Hyundai blue"...

Thanks for the "flash back"...interesting to see the
screen names of the original "Marauder" crowd....
now long gone!!!!
Who still can remember when every member was given a
# when they joined?....1031 was my join/member number.
Even after 4 years...I can still pass on the "Blue"...
now if there is a "Blue" out there with a Charcoal interior,
I might take a second look.

Gotta Love It!

I like the blue too, though I've never actually seen one in person. Then again, I've also never seen a DTR, and only two silver (counting the one I own). All things considered, if I had my choice of colors, it probably would have been black...but when I saw mine for sale, I jumped for it and don't regret it one bit.

Curiously, over about a month of car shopping, I only saw 3 MM's for sale within 200 miles of me. All of them were Silver Birch, two '03 and one '04. Hmm...

Interesting to see that criticism of the blue in the early years, especially in light of how sought-after they are now.

The first MM I actually spotted on a dealer's lot was a blue one, in Cleveland, TX.

YEP!

I was intrigued by the DBP the first time I saw one, and consider myself very fortunate to own one (even if it came as the result of wrecking my DTR).

****** CAUTION THIS THREAD IS 9 YEARS OLD ******

Here's a bit of MercuryMarauder.Net history. The first view and reaction to the Blue MM when it launched in late 2002. Most of the comments on the blue were quite negative in the beginning. Maybe it was just the pic that is now long gone. Boy, did I have a different reaction when I saw it all polished up on the dealer lot.

On 4 October 2003, I went looking for an MM and thought Black was the only color available. I found a blue and came home with it the same day. It's been 8 years and I have never regretted a day of getting the Bluerauder. I love it today as much as I did when I first saw it. Only later did I find how HOW RARE they really were.

Oh yeah, I just missed the 8th Anniversary of ownership. Just turned 86,000 miles ..... a little under 11K per year.
