Well its been happening for a while now, and every morning when I turn it on, a loud squeal is heard. If I let it idle for a few minutes it dies down, but as soon as I tap the gas to roll out of the driveway its gets loud again. It's a short drive to the highway and after the 14 miles trip its quiet when I get to the garage.

I think it may be the clutch for the compressor though, as when I'm on the highway but still just starting out, I can hear it start and stop squealing if I turn the a/c on and off.

I looked at it when I was changing my oil but I don't know what to look for, and wondered if I should hit it with a shot of WD-40 but don't see where I should spray.

Any tips? Should I have it looked at by a mech? Would it be like cutting off the hand when you have a paper cut if I change the whole compressor?

Sounds like your belt slipping to me.....is the tensioner at it's limit??

New belt and tensioner should fix you right up....I recommend the Dayco Poly Cog....designed like a GatorBack but MUCH more durable!!
