I'm putting a feeler out to see what it would cost.
I need a Black Grille Shell w/no teeth required - just a clean dent/chip/scratch free shell.

I have the price for the rest of the parts I need . I'm just looking for an extra shell so I don't have to hack my grille in case I don't like the finished product.

I hope there is someone within driving distance with a leftover grill shell from a badgeless grille mod.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Bump.

Anyone have a spare shell for new teeth?

I do.

What's it worth to ya?

(seriously - have no idea what price I would put on such a thing. I saved it in case I wanted to do a black mesh grille later on but doubt I will)

I'm thinking McDonald's gift certificate here.

What did you think of the fit/finish?

Thanks for the response!

There's a picture of the insert on the link above - the website has some pictures of finished projects.

I think I'm closing on a very good deal for the shell right now - then I just need to get the rest of the money for the insert.

This will most likely be finished over the winter.

duhtroll is working on shipping one to me.
I told him not to go crazy getting it out as I haven't ordered the insert yet.
There will be some prep/paint work for the grille shell then I will have to fab a bracket behind the header panel so the insert can be bolted up and "float" inside the grille shell.
I will most certainly post pictures of the finished project one way or the other!

I just received the grille today!

It arrived unscathed and unbroken - it is actually in better shape than the one I have on the car now (+100K miles can take it's toll!) with the exception of the missing teeth!

I will now start the proccess of removing the rest of the teeth and smoothing out the inside lip and I think I will only repaint the inside lip. The rest looks too darn good to repaint!!

Thanks again to duhtroll for giving me a great deal on this grille and taking his time and making the effort to make sure the grille arrived in the condition that it was in when he put it in the box!!

Thanks to everyone else for the interest - I'll post the pictures when everything is fit up and completed - it will be awhile so be patient please.
