That includes any modifications that are illegal according to Federal, State, or local ordinances. So ANY of you "upgrade"/"modificationers" law breakers are forbidden by the MMnet police, ie Forumn rules, to post about such activities! Like one Forum administrator said to me, "this is NOT a democracy here"!

Ok....now let's see if I get banned for that comment ???!! *smirk* :censor:

Read the Forum rules. There's a part that says "....any Illegal activity".

The StoryBoard got shutdown because of "stories" of street racing or exceeding the speed limit. I was pressing one Administrator here about that, so if they really enforce the rules ANY illegal modification discussion cannot be posted here.

John, are you aware that one of our very young members was tragically killed recently. His name is Alex and he died in his car. That prompted the ban on glorifying street racing. Call or pm me if you want more details. I think you'll feel a little less perturbed if you understand the circumstances.

Yes, and I think out of respect to that tragedy and what that poor family has gone through, it is only proper to not discuss street racing and putting glory to it.

that having been said, I think discussing mod's that tweak the EPA is an American right and anything we can do to fight the man in California seems our American duty. IBTL

By banning discussion of of any topic doesn't make the topic go away! I happen to disagree with the ban and have said so MERCMAN. There is no "extreme" here, just making "free" comment about the ban.

I've bit my lip on this ridiculous subject and I will keep biting it. Many conversations with local members and a few not so local have agreed the same. It is tragic indeed what happened and I feel for his family, but just what would have happened if someone we all know here that brags alot took his place? It would have been nothing but "Saw this coming" and "He was an idiot". This is fact. End rant, and I suggest you do the same....

Not ranting...but will end this topic all the same. Emotions are in play here, thus a level headed discussion won't happen. I posted the topic to get some attention and discussion going. I haven't been here for a while thus not aware the "horse" was dead. I just feel very strongly about freedom of speech...and that was my initial motivation. Enough said.

Agreed but,
Its enforced out of respect to Alex's father that we don't speak about our street racing. He still posts here and I'm sure he don't want to hear other members glorifying what took his son from him.

Not ranting...

Yes you were , in a way we have seen before--

but will end this topic all the same. Great --glad you took the advice!

Emotions are in play here,_ no , only yours!

thus a level headed discussion won't happen. Wrong--we can always do that when the person himself is levelheaded!

I posted the topic to get some attention and discussion going. That you did and it sure got it--but the wrong kind because you are unfamiliar with our subjects and manners!

I haven't been here for a while -Your right about that --but I said that already!-somewhat says my earlier point--!

thus not aware the "horse" was dead. My "horses" are rearing to go anytime as most members--but at the right place and time--and your point is?

I just feel very strongly about freedom of speech..and so do we, but again , you need to become acquainted with this site and its freedom of speech as well.

.and that was my initial motivation. Enough said.
Somehow I am not sure you really mean that!

I have tried to respond to your statement above with your statements as they were said..

This thread surprises me a bit, you seemed like a good guy at Carlisle, and I believe you are. Freedom of speech doesn't apply on private property, and that's where you are. Mods are not illegal. Anything with a CARB number is perfectly legal in all 50 states. many other mods are legal in most staates. Cat replacement with non OEM cats are legal in most states once you pass 100K miles, including your home I believe.

While there is no responsible street racing there is a difference between doing it during rush hour cutting in and out of traffic(motorhead 350 style) and a late at night no one on the road style which I have done. The admin set these rules banning all such story's and we have to abide by them out of respect as this is a privately owned forum. Post you kill story's somewhere else there are many forums that support this I don't see a problem with the new rules.

Let's not forget the original market demographic for this car. Fathers. Period.

The 35-55 year old family man. That's who we are.

It's not about freedom of speech. It's not about ownership. It's about being a good father and ROLE MODEL.

Glorifying street racing by telling stories IS NOT being a good role model.

We may not all want to be role models, but most of us are Fathers and Mothers and we don't want to encourage our progeny (or anyone else's) to take unnecessary risks in an attempt to emulate our so-called 'glory'.

I make reference to you low post count to indicate what Tom has. You haven't been around long enough to understand.

That said, welcome to the 'family'. Where we act like FAMILY.

All I got to say is,

somewhere along the long, "free speech" was deemed to not have to include "good taste" somehow. What you SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO and what you ACTUALLY SHOULD DO sometimes don't coincide.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS NO LONGER ALLOWED!!!!! Prepare to be assimilated by the gov't. Our rights are being slowly stripped away. I don't think anyone is responsible for what a young driver does. When I was young my dad said" use the Pontiac but don't come home dead" . He meant it!!! I drove fast but never to endanger friends or the other driver. I think all the ricer movies did more to harm to the young drivers than any other factor.Pissed in Canada.

Freedom of speech. I thought we had been over that here already. Boy that argument brings back memories. All I have to say is +1 on the comments above and welcome to private property.

I fully support the ban on street racing stories. A young man who came "of age" around this community of generally respectable people, read our stories of bending the rules of the road. If you think that influence had not registered with Alex, you are wrong. There were many factors involved, and in some small way, I'd bet my pension street racing stories read on line were a contributing factor.

At least MM.net will not be a place where members out driving get a bright idea to street race and quickly run home to post up about their "kill story".
