Same as last year, just fresh rubber. The others ones have some fine cracks in them and wheeling around 4,xxx at something like 107 mph requires good tires.

Nor has the marauder gonna down the strip yet... I am expecting about 700RWHP after the tune so It would be nice to see what kind of numbers it can post on the 1/4...

You guys are worrying me. I convinced the wife that our November outting will be SSHS-10, with a side trip to the smokies, to see some really fast Marauder/Chevy/Mopar drag racing.

Now it seems the really fast Marauder ranks may be thinning out. To wit: Marauder TJA is still on the fence, Trilogy 1 is not playing, Marty-O's engine is blown, ProRauder is awaiting parts, DR has not announced, Zack is not on the venue.

Thank God Mr. Man is coming.

Tom, I just tried to fit my light weights on Sherms car and they no fit.:( The narrowed marauder wheels and tires still weigh 41lbs, no light weight there. Now maybe if they had a bias ply 18 that would help. The wheels I use on my T-Bird weigh 21lbs. They are aluminum t bird mini spare wheels with bias Hoosiers.

CBT, I think Glenn uses the mini spares with skinny tires. Not sure what they weigh in at tho.

Thanks Chris. Problem I am facing are the 14" Baer brake rotors. Only option I can find is getting the Bogart wheels ($$$) or narrowing my Marauder wheels which I will not do. My car is first and foremost a street car. See you soon.

FYI - I was in the tower last year at SSHS Glenn. Atl Dragway management is wise to racers using their temporary spares as skinnies now. You need to have approved drag tires on the skinny rims. They will look you over in the lanes and give you the boot too, not just in tech if you do not have drag tires on the skinnies.

Another thing to be aware of, I was at a T&T a week ago at Atl Dragway, and they are checking for approved race fire jackets in tech if you are running a power adder. I did not wear my jacket during my runs, and nobody said anything in the lanes, but just be aware tech might give you the boot if you do not have one in the car during tech.

Mike:

The skinny tires on the MM spare aluminum rims were MT Sportsman S/R tires. Never run your OEM skinny spare tires on the strip - very dangerous. The skinnies did help by lightening the front end by 42#, reduced rolling resistance and provided more control in the steering then stock wide tires. This is particularly important when running bias ply MT ETs (i.e your ETs) which can shake on the top end - not for the faint of heart.

Click the blue box below to see the skinny run at SSHS9.

Yes sir, Glenn :) While I was in the tower last year, they checked your car, and JP's "Driller" Mark VIII while in the lanes.

I just wanted to point that out, as it was not mentioned in your post to use the the drag tire with skinnies, and not the temp spare tire. I'd hate to see someone show up and expect to race with temp tires on their car.

We are dismayed to learn that some of the top Marauder quarter mile contenders will not participate in SSHS10 due to a variety of reasons: Trilogy 1, ProRauder, MarauderTJA.

I can only imagine their profound disappointment.

Patricia and I have been wanting to come to the SSHS's for the past three years, but due to family matters had to shelve the trip.

This year was going to be different. The trip is set up, the hotel reservations made, mother's care assured, all but the weather is accounted for, or so I thought.

We'll that's life. However, there remains a group of TOP Marauder competitors that can raise the Marauder banner on BIG DOG mountain on 6 November: Marty O, Sherminator and a cast of tens.

We will be there cheering for each and every one of you valiant knights as you spear the competition into the dust. I will raise the Marauder Alley sign marking the ring of champions for the profane to bow the knee as dusk falls on the track.

Good Luck to all of you Marauder drivers. May your IAT's be low and Boost levels be high.

The weather forecast for 6 Nov, a Saturday, is Sunny. This is the extended forecast, will refine it as time nears for SSHS10. Rain will be in the picture for the first part of the week so don't be too concerned.

Most of the motels' in Commerce are clustered around I-85/US Hwy-441, room availability and price are factors. I don't know of any one Hotel/motel that is perferred.

Maybe someone else does. This is my first trip.

Thank you. I resurved a room at the Motel-6. Holliday Inn & Best Western were full!

Well you guys will have to excuse me from the shoot out. Friday night at MIR was not a good time as I melted 7 of the 8 pistons on the second run. No time to fix it so the year is finished for me. Have fun in Atlanta and be safe.

Sherm, really sorry to hear of your misfortune, no one with the possible exception of Paul Casey enjoys the track more than you. You will be missed. Penny was planning to send a chocolate cake for you north with me. Guess I will have to eat it all myself.:( All the best. Hi to Chris. 7 out of 8? You are still my hero. I wanna be you when I grow up. Dennis

Dennis tell Penny that there is probably only one thing that I enjoy more than my car on the track and that is chocolate cake. Ask her to save it for me and do not send it north for Pops, he should not eat that stuff. Thanks for the thoughts and see you later for sure.

I don't know John. Penny really loves Sherman and her cake is awfully good, to good probably to last the entire 502 miles.. I love ya almost as much as her chocolate cake. See you there. Dennis

Marty, that's a long ride to hang out and eat cake. Besides, as Dennis suggested I like the racing aspect of the track, not hanging out. To all you cake lovers, I'm sorry that Dennis is now going to eat the cake before it gets to the track, oh well I should have kept my woe a secret until the cake got there.

I am willing to bet it was.

We learned a lot about fuel and these cars as of late.

The normal rules and formulas do not apply when you get to the higher horsepower cars that are heavy.

We did a bunch of data logging and compared it to dyno pulls. You would be surprised to see the difference in the amount of fuel that these cars demand when they are rolling down the track as compared to when they are just on the rollers. It is along the lines of what you were saying with the yourprogramming for the trans.

It destroyed 7 of 8 spark plugs. There are 3 dead holes, one good hole(number 8 go figure:rolleyes:), and the other 4 between 30 and 80psi. Who knows maybe it just killed some valves but I doubt it. It got hot and pushed alittle water out of the reservoir. Guess we'll find out in a few weeks how good CP pistons are.

It is still returnless. One of the BAP fuses blew on the first run, so who knows maybe a pump was going bad?

Yup sucks a 100 part can take out a 4k part pretty quick... in our case.:( You prolly have a 500 dollar pump or so for the return system.

7 and change and it took a good bit more than that with it on its way out the door.

Magnafuel's comment was that it is cheap to rebuild the pump and they ignored my comments about losing a motor to the pump.

In normal voice I usually say its only a couple hundred , while counting per each finger on each hand under breath for just about everything when purchased -----and sweety says..........ok then , didn't want it to be too much all at once.....to which I cough, cough.....sure no problem.....

So far , that had worked for me...........and its even better when you can change the subject towards something she wants.....just keep in mine the two cost go together----which explains why I try and scale down her coast at those times---but it all works out ok......she has two new cars to my none..
