Well gang my Ecoboost flex just turned 6,600 mi., so I said to myself, self it's time for a little excursion to the local drag strip which btw is Thompson Raceway Park just south of Madison, Ohio.
Well I get there and after about a 15 min. wait I make my first pass which is 14.41 e.t. at 96.84 m.p.h. and it's about 65 degreees outside.
About a half hour later I make the second pass in the opposite lane and go a 14.38 e.t. at 96.84 m.p.h., it's about 60 degrees by then.
The third pass wich was the 1st. rd. of eliminations was about 1 1/2 hrs. later and I dialed a 14.34 e.t., unfortunatly I broke out with a 14.32e.t.
60 ft. times were 2.17, 2.16 and 2.14 in the order of the runs that were made.
It's a dog off the line but pulls strong in the middle of the track.
1st and 5th gear shifts a about 6,000 rpm but 2nd,3rd, and 4th (it's a 6 speed auto) shift at only about 5,000 rpm which i'm sure is hurting the e.t.
With a tune to correct the shifting and a mixture tweak i'm sure this thing will go well into the 13's with not a lot of money spent.
(By comparison my stock MM went 15's:() lol.

Just somthing that I thought id would share with the collective.

You might want to contact the S.H.O. tuners out there and see what they can do.

^^^^ I hear ya. I've looking at S.H.O.'s for when I get me tax refund but I don't think it's going to happen. $40K is too much when I already have a car payment. :(

Thanks for the Flex #'s. I work at Ford Oakville Assembly Complex where it was built.
An engineer from Detroit told me they had a test mule Flex that managed to get 425hp out of that motor.

Holy crap, that is unexpectedly fast. Maybe I'll see you down there sometime, JR!

I have the Lincoln MkS with the Ecoboost. It has the paddle shifters which I would hope would solve the middle gear early-shifts. Your experience is encouraging me to head for the track. Your 14.30 should be my bogey.

Thanks for the responses guys.
In addition I tried to powerbrake it into the boost range but there seems to be some type of rev limiter that prevents the rpm from going above about 2500 rpm.:(
There again it's somthing that might be circumvented by a tune (or a looser converter might be needed).
Just improving the 60 ft. time would probably put in the 13's.

I would think that the lesser weight of your car would put you right into the 13's.;)

I'm sure that the OEM short shift program is designed that way for the transmission's reliability.
Also, they probably pull timing from the engine to reduce HP during shifts.
Ford has to offer a full warranty and banging off hot shifts at 6,000+ rpm in a heavy Flex would wreak havoc on dealer warranty claims.

BTW: Great times from your EcoBoost Flex.
It would walk a stock Marauder and embarass my once stock '85 Mustang GT 5.0 : 14.6s @ 93 mph.

I really like the Eco Flex for a fast family hauling grocery getter. Thanks for the write up and the SHO sites for mod details.

Got pics of the Flex?

Sorry DEFYANT,
Not computer savvy enough yet to upload pics.

Friend of mine was at the Va Motorsports Park this past Friday, said there was a Ecoboost Flex running 13.90's there. Appeared stock. Pretty impressive. Reminds me of the Volvo turbo wagons.
