I'm fine, the Marauder seems just fine. Looks like I need a new bumper guard and my Proguard is shot. I was the final car hit. We were in stop and go traffic. I was going 0MPH when I was hit. Becky was with me and she's says it hurts to fart and we probably can't do the Hanky Panky tonight.
By the looks of it the Honda that hit me had my car up on his bumper for a second.
I am going to request a rental car, but here is the issue. I really want a GM or Town Car. To get one of those you must be 25 last time I tried. I need the trunk space for gear for my band. Here is the other issue: My dad said not to mention "Musician" to the insurance companies because we are "higher" risk... whatever.
The police officer that showed up was a pretty cool dude. When he asked what the car was I said "Marauder." "Marauder hua? That's a cool name." "Thanks." "Thirsty?" "I could use a water." "No the car." "Oh. Yeah 17mpg at best dude." "I bet you have a V8 under that hood, maybe some work too?" "Yup. Supercharger, headers, 4:10 gears. Everything to help the gas mileage."
He just smiled was on his way. The 08 Impala that hit us really had no damage. The driver said he had had the same accident twice this year. Even showed me his last write up for the repair.
Looks like I might need a new bumper guard, but I was told the plastic could be "fiberglassed" back into shape. Do you guys think I need a new bumper guard?

I would want a new bumper cover and I would want to see what the damage underneath was. I bet your trunk bottom got smashed in especially if the other car rode under you. Dont be so quick to brush this off till you get underneath and see what has really happened.
Glad the both of you were not seriously hurt.

BAD LUCK!!! Glad no obvious serious injury. As previously stated, have the car checkerd for concealed damage. Try to hold out for new bumper cover. Best of luck.

Any bodyshop worth their time will replace the cover. get an estimate through your insurance adjuster, and go from there. Nobody here can give you a definite answer without inspecting the car in person.
CAN the bumper be fixed? Yes (not correctly with fiberglass), but is it worth the time for a shop? NO. I've fixed plenty of torn bumpers (and a marauder). A two part epoxy is used. On a crack, you'll use a die grinder to rough up the back, then apply the epoxy, a special tape, and more epoxy. Then flip it to the front, grind out the edges of your crack, and fill from the front. You're looking at 3-4 hours just to repair the tears and cracks. That's like $250-300+ in JUST shop labor, plus time to paint prep? No dice.
I'm assuming the front bumper is the first picture? That for sure needs replaced.
What everyone else mentioned, look for secondary damage. When you pull the cover off, check the support bar behind it. Make sure everything is still lined up, any bent brackets, broken tabs, etc.

Was it really necessary to add?:
"Becky was with me and she's says it hurts..."

Get GF to a Doctor and get her checked out, file a report with your insurance company and most times they will recommend a body shop, at least in New Jersey they do, however you {should} have the right to have the car fixed at a shop you choose. Read your policy and see if the insurance company is allowed to use used parts for repairs, some insurance companys state this in the policy.
Best of luck with the repairs.
As for a replacement car while your's is beening fixed it up the rental company the insurance sends you to. Most have small cars.

No tingly intermittent neck pain issues?
I think airbags should have 2 setting. If you get hit in the back bumper and shoved into the car in front of you, air bags should deploy normally. If you are the idiot who caused a pile-up and your car's sensors only pick up front bumper impact, two arms should come out of the steering wheel and choke you to death. I know, I know, I'm a dreamer.

New bumper cover. Inspect underneath, the bumper itself or the trunk floor may be damaged, as well as the bumper cover support brackets.
Hahaha! How do you come up with this stuff?
Stupid people annoy me and when I read stories like this, where 2 of my friends could have been seriously injured and a Marauder was damaged, i just get angry. Plus, I'm bored.

If whoever was at faults insurance is covering your repairs they will also have to cover the rental car. I believe your car has to be in your name as its your car that was damaged. I had someone hit my car when I was 20 and was really worried about having something to drive while it was getting fixed. It was her fault and my car was in my own name so they said they have to give me a rental no matter what my age was. Then its just a matter of getting them to give you an equal to yours car.

What happened was I was the last car hit.
The 08 Impala hit the 96 Honda and the Honda was pushed into me. I can't believe I bent his hood that bad and all I have is bumper cover damage... or at least it appears that way. This was in rush hour traffic on I-90 toward O'Hare Airport. The Honda wouldn't start after the crash so Becky and I pushed it off to the side within 20 seconds of getting hit. No we didn't get a thank you. That guy was livid for a few minutes anyway so I don't blame him. The funny thing is the Impala had the least damage and was the one that did all of this.
We were on our way to see Back To The Future at a drive in! That ruined our night, but they are playing it again tonight.
I am 100% fine, Becky on the other hand is still in pain. She needs helping picking socks off the floor and cannot reach around to attach her bra. So I gotta help her with all of this.
I contacted our Doctor and he said to take Advil with every meal for five days. Or we could go to the ER right now. We can at least say we contacted a Dr. within 24 hours of the accident now.
Drive fast, take chances, but look out for the other guy.
BTW thanks for all of the kind words guys. I'm still driving the car around too. I would take the K5, but the top is off and it's raining today.

You HAVE to be the most juvenile person on this board. You remind me of this every time you post. Oh my Gosh, you have a girlfriend! Would you care for me to send out a press release and send off a blimp professing this? Perhaps a billboard on the interstate, or bumper stickers we can all put on our cars. That would be swell..........
And let me tell you; It's so smart to tell your insurance agent that your car is heavily modded. Actually, that is the LAST person you should be telling.
And your dad telling you not to tell your agent that you are a "musician" because of higher rates is the absolute STUPIDEST thing I have heard in years. Thank you for this laugh. It's obvious where your brains come from.

You sound like a total child in your posting and hope you posting is from a side effect from your medication. If it isn't please get on medication so people like you no longer exist.
The reason to post info on the GF is because a few have met her at meets. They know who she is. I am not saying looking at me I have a GF. Get outta here with that and how dare you judge before you know or even met me. Taking about people makes you the most juvenile of them all. As far as the MODs go, that's a whole other issue. You must not like the way I describe injury's for soar muscles. I don't care, I didn't write it for your liking. I was mature once, but decided to enjoy life.

At least the guy that hit you had insurance and didn't weasel away while you weren't looking. It looks like probably the malibu and civic hit bumper to bumper, where as the civic rode under your bumper, hence more damage. Also, if the civic was a manual, he may not have had the brake on if he was operating the clutch in stop and go like you say. Anyway, good luck with the repairs.

Dude, girls deal with their bras everyday. We all fart everyday too. The average person does it 12 times a day. These are all normal things. Wait till you have to help someone do something that's normal. Go to an old folks home, those people need help wiping. Sad, but true. You have a lot to learn in this world. Hanky Panky is the nicest way I can say it dude, you want detail? I could teach you a few things. It wasn't my GFs period the other day... it's a longer story than that, that will not be posted because "we don't wanna hear it."
Your voice echos on a message board and you are calling me dumb? :shake: Those that share the same opinion of you are very few. Maybe three out of 4,000 members. And like some people here want me to change down to their ways and logics. Quit trying to change people. If you don't like them stay away or don't post. Simple as that. I would use the ignore feature on you, but I figuring you are just having a bad day. We are both here because of the Marauder, maybe I can learn something from you someday, but not today.
Also I think you're single and not in the way you would enjoy. Have a good day.

Glad to hear you are OK! As for your girlfriend she should have been taken to the emergency room or doctor right after the accident. Insurance companies will have a field day over pain and suffering not seen to after the accident. I know from many accidents of my own how they work. I have had two major accidents and it took years to settle one of the accidents because of the medical issues. I really hope she is not seriously hurt. Take care and good luck!

Now I have a problem. I am 100% fine, but my girlfriend is getting worse. The reason I didn't take her in after the accident was because she wasn't in pain. As the days have gone by she is feeling worse. She believes this is all muscle related and thinks she was hit harder than me. I had the steering wheel to hang onto and if you guys look at the damage we were hit more so on the passenger side. I don't think that really has to do with anything, but the steering wheel does. At least from my point of view.
She is now worried she will be missing work due to the accident. I might her to the doctor in the morning, but we'll see how she feels at 6am. She'll be taking some meds at 4am. Either way I'm taking her in, she just doesn't wanna miss work, not even for a day to see a Dr. The only reason she is so shy to miss was because she used her vacation to make sure I could go to MV8... yes I know she's a keeper.
We'll see how the story unfolds. Also I have to contact the insurance companies tomorrow. This will be fun.

Get Becky to the Dr. I understand not wanting to miss any time, but.. Why suffer any longer than she has to. You got hit hard enough that she was thrown forward and wasn't braced against the steering wheel.

Sorry to hear about the accident Dom, that sucks when something like that happens and your just sitting there. Sorry to hear Bec's is ailing though. Definite plus 1 on the lawyer, protect yourself, especially if there's injuries, and once you take her to the Doctor, definitely notify the offenders insurance company.
This happened to me once (Though in my case the woman I tapped at 3mph had a BS injury.) She went tot he Doctor 5 days after the accident and my insurance company filed it as a bodily injury claim. Obviously I dumped them, but the point is,e ven though it's after the accident, the insurance company may still cover it.

Well I made a trip to the body shop and I was told something strange. They can still get the OEM bumper for $900. I would almost bet money that it's for a CV. Last time this place worked on my car they put a CV side mirror on it. It was an honest mistake and was taken care of as soon as I mentioned it. My total for redoing everything amounts to $2,200. A rental car is given by the insurance company, but they said I would have to pay for insurance, possibly $25 a day! I'll deal with that when I get to it. If that's really the case I am putting the top back on my truck and driving that rig. I just don't want to because of how bad the transmission has gotten. The shop can get to the car in two weeks which is fine with me because I have some racing to do this weekend! :burnout:
As far as the GF goes we went to a hospital. Took some x-rays and everything is fine, it's just muscle problems. So we got a prescription and were off to Wallgreens. The insurance company said they would cover everything. Everything from the meds to days missed from work... we even kept the ticket for the $29 parking downtown. So she is doing better and the Marauder should be fine within a month or so.
I'm still doing fine. I haven't noticed anything else wrong with me or the car. The shop said they would take the bumper off to look for additional damage. So all is well. Just a little concerned on the woman, the car is a piece of cake. With the bumper the way it is, it really looks like a city car now. ;)
