Looking for a place for six people to stay; arriving either 12/30 or 12/31, and departing 1/2. Have plans to visit Edgewater and Brookfield (not on the same day). We kind of want to stay downtown for the sights/ambiance.

So... any suggestions? Tentatively looking at the Holiday Inn Express (640 N. WABASH AVENUE, CHICAGO) or the InterContinental (505 NORTH MICHIGAN AVE, CHICAGO).

Edit: Also open to suggestions for fun stuff to do, must be OK for a wide range of ages.

Thanks

Hangover day is something I might go to and you're invited to come along if you wish. It's where people race their cars on new years day in Byron, IL at a 1/4 mile track.

You should check out the Museum of Science and Industry. Kids would love that one too. Go to a place called The Wiener Circle at 3am on new years day... so new years. It's a hot dog stand that's open till 4am, it get's crazy! If you wanna go to a bar go to The Exit. A former member on here used to own that place. Punk Rock music and other fun music in the bar, bondage upstairs, $20 for a whipping. If you like Rockabilly music go Martyr's the first thursday of the month... but looks like you will be outta town. Dave and Busters would be a place kids would enjoy. There is high speed go-karting a little outside of the city, but it is kinda expensive.

As far as hotels I cannot tell you because I always lived here, never went to a hotel. Michigan ave will probably be the most expensive.

Hope I helped. PM me if you wanna hangout or me to show you around. I always have time for a member.

Thanks guys!

I will be without the MM--not enough seats--but it would be fun to get some 1/4mi times at sub-freezing temps :D Thanks for the tip about MS&I, we could get a membership and use the "passport" feature to get discounts on museums back here in the D. Bondage and bars are not going to work for this crowd, but thanks. ;)

We'll definitely hit one of those pizza joints.... or maybe all three!
