So I was taking some bottles out to the recycling bin in the garage when a loud hissing blast of air occurred and the right front of my car dropped. Here's what I found.

Crazy huh? All the other valves are perfect.

Dayum!

Makes me want to go out and check mine really good.

Are they originals by chance?

Mike.

No they were changed about 10,000 miles ago at Central Florida Lincoln Mercury.

In my driving career, 30+ years, I can say that has never happened to me.

And hope it doesn't. Especially at speed.

Mike.

If it was less than a year ago, they should warranty that repair as service parts.

I need to have the tires balanced again anyways and that dealership is too far away for something this small. I use them because they have the best alignment tech in Central Florida.

There were some cheapo Chinese stems that were recalled about a year ago. Wonder if you got one of them?

Coincidence? While in the lobby of the tire shop waiting for my work van to get new tires, a lady came in for a "blowout" repair. The tech showed her the problem, a blown out valve stem, just like what you experienced.

I've never seen that happen in my 10 years as a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury mechanic.

Discount tire sent me a recall of sorts to bring it in for a problem with bad stems and I got one from the dealer also about posible bad stems. The ones from Ford had to be all changed out because of falure. I was lucky also since one went bad in drive way, I took to ford they changed the one said all others ok. 4 months later I had another failure so they changed out all 4.These were on the 07 Explorer not the MM.

Car was parked in the garage. I keep the recycling bin in the third bay. I don't even let my kids eat or wear shoes in my car! Let alone garbage.
