So, when the shaft breaks, it won't clank around so bad?

You might need bigger bolts. I just installed my Metco loop, and both seat bolt heads snapped off. I got one of the broken bolts out, and the threads were OK (I had to heat it with my acetylene torch). The other side I ended up drilling out, and used a 3/8" bolt.

also when did mine, i had to put longer bolts. to get the driveshaft loose outback i had to warm up the bolts with a torch also. coulnt do it with just a breaker bar.
then again i work on the floor.

I took the bolts out and turned them around, threading them up from under the car and put nuts on the ends on the seat side.

...and to think I had to take the space I reserved under the canopy for someone else outside the lobby entrance for my MM....cause y'all kept saying it was needed for some guy who HAS to have it! ....Oh well, the MM enjoyed it after hours when ya'll went to bed.......till early morn----...yeah that Security guy kept things very quite--especially since I was in charge for all that!!.
DOOM i could have used back-up. It got ugly when I asked Rex what the 60's were like in front of everyone at the raffle. I yelled out "You want a piece of me!" to the..um...elders in the crowd who stuck up for him. I thought Dakslim was going to hit me with his walker. :D

With your X pipe exhaust you may not need one. Lets see the shot from under your car?

I have an H-pipe but actually I think you might be right. My exhaust guy told me if I put the car up on a post lift there could be a chance the driveshaft would hit or rest on the H crossover. By looking at the pics I don't know if I'd even be able to put one on actually. Thoughts?

The reason for a DS loop is so you don't catapult (or impale) your car on it's own drive shaft. Your exhaust will not let that happen, so you don't need it. (you already have protection) "that what she said" !

Thank you. I'm going to get it in the air and see if there is room for it just to make sure.
My exhaust guy even made all the right correction for the bends to compensate for the rake of the body. It's nice to have someone work on my car with enough care and thought as they would their own car.

Seeing the rust on those bolts, I think you should leave well enough alone. You may end up with a major PITA of getting the bolts out or stripping all the threads. Your exhaust will protect you from any issues.
Besides, how many pole vaulting Marauders have we heard of?

The safety loop also keeps it from smacking against the bottom of the car floorboards since the driveshaft is still going to spin and flop around until you get the car stopped.
I have a feeling I won't need the DS loop plus also I will be installing a CVPI MMC DS though I'd rather get cheap insurance than to take a chance of screwing something up even more.

NHRA requires a driveshaft loop in certain classes, and would never consider any exhaust system as a substitute. A broken u-joint can cause unbelievable damage. Besides causing a car to go into a guard rail or pole-vaulting, it can also tear the extension housing off the transmission. I wish I had copies of photos I have seen of the carnage from a broken u-joint or driveshaft.
Here is an example from the FordFE forum:
"A friend had a U joint let go on him once with a ladder bar rear, the repair bill was in the thousands as the shaft ate up every piece of metal from the rear seat back, including the fuel cell and battery. I feel very lucky that we got off so easy."
The Metco loop fits very close to the trans tunnel.
