Differential cover gasket

Changing my axles today with Dorman's from Rock Auto
I pulled it apart yesterday and found no gasket.
Did the MM come without them?
Or has somebody been in there?
It appears to have been sealed with black RTV.

they came from factory like that,i noticed that also when i changed rear fluid .i put cover gasket when i reinstalled it ,no leaks.

Either use a gasket or RTV gasket maker (follow the directions on the tube). Came from the factory with no gasket, either will work.

Ford Racing had a reusable gasket, also.

Dont use too much RTV gasket make like my FLM dealer did (idiots) Let RTV start to setup before replace cover -- if you use too much it can get on the inside and ruin your gear oil.

There's a silicone type gasket (can't recall the official name) that is supposed to work really well on the 8.8.
