 W ell it happens every time I'm geting ready to spend some more money on her! Last time BAD MERC and CARFIXER gave me a huge helping hand in fixing my brake booster not to mention my big welcome to this site was by fastblackmerc when he fixed my broken LCM for next to nothing! I got off work and was almost home when all of a sudden I heard some rattling noise from around my car. When I got to the lot I pop'd the hood, hop'd out the car when I heard the noise and put my hand directly over the cooling fans as my hand began to tremble from the nerve racking rattle! Please any direction is more than appriciated so I could be back on my to more happy mod's! Thanks guys...

What reading was the temp gauge at ? Either way with the motor off disengage the belt tensioner & remove belt from alternator. Check all pulleys for bearing play & see they move freel aternator belt tensioner water pump ect. when motor is cool remove cap on crossover tube check coolant fluid level front of car slightly higher than rear & heater on.

Is the noise from the cooling fan or the motor.
You may have a broken cooling fan blade(s).

Temp seemed about normal but I've had overheating issues before so I'll give this a shot tommorow.

The noise was directly over the cooling fans and now that you say this, that kinda what I thought I sounded like! I hope not but how do I look for that if it is the case?

It's a blade thats cracked. Watch out it could become a projectile

If it's the cooling fans, what would it cost to replace them?
Go to the junkyard and get a donor fan blade form a crown vic/Marquis

What ever you do DO NOT buy an aftermarket one. They have a tendency to catch fire . Ask Marauderman. I'd pull the fan off and check for any broken/cracked blades then make a trip to the recycle yard.

Ok I didn't pull the fan off but from looking into it while turning her around with my hand I didn't notice any cracks. The pulleys as well as the serpentine belt all appear to be fine and I just determined that the rattle winding noise comes on instantly when I turn on the a/c and cuts off as soon as I turn the a/c off!

Your A/C compressor or clutch maybe on it's way out.
FYI... the fan comes on every time the A/C is turned on.

This could be why my a/c wasent running as cool on the ride home and hasent been for a while.

Either that or the fan isn't working properly to cool the condensor down.
Check out the fan, they seem to be failing lately, Try unplugging the fan and turn on the A/C. If you don't hear the noise then its the fan.

After disconnecting the fan the noise went away and afterwards I reconnected then back came the noise! I'm guessing this nails it down to the fan so what should be my next move?

Like was said, check the junk yards for a OEM fan from a Crown vic. Do not use a aftermarket one. They fail and can burn up.
Im not sure what the dealer charges for one but I don't think they are cheap.

Contact the member Ray the dealer. He may be able to help you out on the costs of a new one.

Well I was under the Hood today and by sticking my hand inside of the radiator fan assembly I felt what turned out to be a slight crack on the upper part of the fan but not the blade itself. This is what was making all the racket noise everytime the fan cut on, I was thinking since its not major and it is plastic that maybe it could be repairable with PVC piping glue/cement or whatever it is. could this be possible or has anyone tried something similar?

I bought a whole new fan from autoparts, installed it this morning but now the fan just never cuts off! I left the car turned off and the fan kept running for like an hour! It just don't cut off lol do I have a defective? Does the fan need to be only motorcraft or did I just do something wrong? I thought autoparts would be an oe style. I need help quick!

Like was stated a few times in this thread......... DO NOT get an aftermarket fan. You WILL have a "thermal event". ONLY use a Ford fan assembly.
