That was a dealer installed option.

I installed my own aftermarket unit.

Dealerships actually sent out remote starters for installs. Guy who does the 7 dealers in my area installed mine. I have an OEM Ford unit and it's fantastic.

Glad yours works. Mine ended up costing me close to $500 total, installed by a dealer, and does not work... Since I don't drive her in the winter anymore, its a non issue, but still :mad2:

The Ford installed one is made by Code Alarm and is a chinese POS!!! As an installer of 19 years I suggest an aftermarket unit by DEI. Which is Clifford, Python, Viper. With a skilled and competent installer it will last forever. My self-installed Viper Responder 791XV has been in for 5 years with no issues.

John`s was installed by Mercury and uses the factory keyfob.....I have seen a factory remote start unit before that plugged into our harness very easily.....I would love to get one of these...I`m certain they had it available,as I almost bought one off a member here a couple of seasons ago and passed on it at the last minute due to $$ fundage,or lack there of at the time.

My self installed remote start is a DEI unit.

No problems since the install.

OEM came in 3 flavors: bronze, silver, gold I believe. I have the middle one which is remote starter + key less illuminated entry + trunk. post the part number to determine which kit it is.

I do remember three different options when I bought mine, I have the top of the line unit that has the remote start, keyless, illuminated entry, trunk and security system that insludes hood security pin, trunk entry alarm and door trigger on all doors. It also has a starter interupt relay.

The correct part # for the one that I have for sale is 7L2Z-19G365-AA

It list brand new for: $307.14
Tasca sells them for: $261.07

I am offering it for sale for $175 shipped.

how good is that security system, because 3 doors down from me my neighbor just had her (now get ready for tihs) seats stolen front an back nothing eles just the seats. it's a 2000 jag. xj8-L. right in front of her house. this was always a low crime area. people that did it really must have known exactly how they came out..anyway it might be time for a security system...
