View Full Version : How do you enjoy your Marauder?

I was toodleing down the backroads yesterday , I spotted some deer feeding along the side of the road.

They were several of various sizes, and appeared to mostly be interested in the lush grass they were munching on.
I was thinking how I could get thier attention without them darting out in front of the very light traffic.
I poked the go go pedal just enough to hear the shrill begin.
and yes they popped their heads up , looked right at me, stoped chewing and had that deer in the headlights look .
They did not move a muscle toward me but watched me for the whole way by.

I drive the ish out of mine. You will be happy because your marauder will be one car rarer when I get done with mine. Driving the wheels off that highway cruiser.

Drive it, get it filthy, drive it some more, pile friends in it, drive it some more then maybe wash it after a month.

Drive it eveyday, try to keep it clean, try to go 147 feet per second at least once a day. Go to cruises. race it a little, mostly on a sanctioned track. Play the radio loud. Sometimes no radio.

I enjoy looking at it, driving it, washing it, and smoking anything that gives me a reason to do so.

I like to drive through the Baltimore Harbor tunnels....

roll down all of windows.....

slow down to about 35 mph....

Punch it.....

and listen to the glorious HOWL of the Kooks/Magnaflow'd DOHC at 6200 rpm!

Gives me shivers everytime I do it and I end up laughing like a fool.

The people around me in the tunnel are saying "WTF!!!" and looking like this:....

We've gotta do that in convoy one day headed to Red Brick at White Marsh or points north. Me, Merc and Breadfan did it in the "old" tunnel headed to the Jacksonville VFD Car Show back in 2006. That was a blast. Would be better with more cars.

Oh yeah, I drive mine everyday .... rain or shine and I just like to hear the roar. :D The Ecosystem on my Garmin says that my accelerations are not very efficient for gas mileage. But I just tell "GPS Jill" to take a hike or enjoy the ride.

Not to get too technical, but most non-domestic rats are in fact four legged and brown...

I hate rats. I used to work on a horse farm, and when the farm next door closed, they all migrated to our barn. Such a destructive army.

single day kill records: self-27 group-53

Totals for one year: self-184 group-267

Thats just disgusting...

Now to the point...Daily driver that I enjoy immensely...My 5 year old refers to it as "Daddy's race car," and she always asks me to "go faster"

Man, I hope that I never get to the point in life where I have to keep a scoreboard on killing rats and tallying up the days, weeks, months and year total. Is there some kind of trophy for that? :trophy1:

Well, when you work on a horse farm doing such remedial tasks, you can get pretty bored...not to mention their destructive powers. It was amazing the level of damage they caused to that place-chewing through electical wires, the stall walls, rubber floor mats, even cast aluminum and concrete. Fortunately I left there few years ago, and got a "real" job...Trophy? no...but oddly Michigan still offers a bounty on dead rats...Made me think of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer and Newman were considering collecting cans and using the mail truck to go to MI for refund money...I can just see it now-I'd get pulled over for speeding with a trunk full of dead rats, and having to explain to the officer that I was going to Michigan to collect the bounty money...

+1 on most of the above. (not the rats) But when pulling out into traffic even when its not completely needed I give it WOT and the exhaust sounds beastly. then i look over at my gf and say "You liked that didn't you?" lol. She even asked me one time why I hit the gas (more than is neccessary) under bridges. I just laughed and said "cuz it sounds like armageddon..."

It's so true...tunnels, under bridges, narrow alleyways, and-yes-even a car wash bay (or two)...

I have floored it in park, sitting in a car wash, just to plaster the :censor:er behind me with soap as it was being rained down on the car. Funny sight, looking in the side mirror as they hit the wipers and and start backing up.

that is pretty funny...especially since they were in line to get a wash. they must have been intimidated. Were they by chance driving a little japenese car (civic, et al) with the cherry bomb muffler that makes their car sound like an angry honey bee?

Tunnels, overpasses, city streets. Hammer down at the track. Cruising on the highway. Washing her and getting her fixed up when she breaks. Just how any normal car guy enjoys a car.

Haha, I was about to head to the track and my dm called me and told me a delivery driver called out so I went in and shot the pic with a topper on it and my headlight taken out and track ready. I was wondering who was gunna notice that first.

its a deeply seeded relationship of speed and trust. You car trust you and vise versa. The car found me. Silly as it sounds, its true. Come march i we celibrate our third year together. And still everyday i cant wait to jump in her and show her off. The look on peoples faces, the kids pointing, other panther guys chunkin the deuce and givin the thumbs up. You cant get that from a toaster on wheels. When was the last time you heard someine say " hey man you see that cavilier outside". We are amoung a elite group of people love there marauder.

1.) Watching people turn their heads as I drive by.
2.) Listening to people say "nice car"
3.) Telling some kid in a rice burner "You just got beat by an old man's car"

Very funny Mr. Walsh. :)

I:

Drag Race
Haul friends
Park it in the street
Drive across the country
Take it to car shows
Car cruises
Street Race (stop lights and such)
Road Race (highways, interstates)
Drive down railroad tracks
Jump railroad tracks
Burnout
Drive it in the winter
Hall all my music gear
Yell at people with the P.A.
Wash it myself sometimes
Maintain it myself with help from others from time to time
Sleep in it
Took out the rear seat and slept in it in a house
Cruise alone to Doo Wop music at night
Grocery getter
Music blaster
Push it to the limit all the time
Eat in it
Drink in it

It's my dream car. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I just love driving it whenever I get her out. My 1992 Crown Vic is my daily drive and it is a nice car but the Marauder will out handle (which I love!) out accelerate and beat the snot out of the wimpy boys and girls driving their Honda's here in GA!

I have taken exit ramps at double speed without even getting to the sweaty palm level. These cars were very well balanced and are great to enjoy too. Yet they are comfortable too!

They should have built them for 10 years not 2!

Overall my smile doesn't leave my face whenever I get the Marauder out for a spin. The 4.10's really woke her up too! :coolman:

Enjoy yours like I do mine!

Dave

As much as I love my 5.0, after driving it up to Chicago for 10 days, I have to admit I missed my DD Marauder. What I really love is now I'm getting a little bit of a following at my local bar, they love her. But they still ask why I don't drive the Mustang when it rains. My reply
"She's a garage weekend princess, who felt the rain once in Chicago, but never again"
I love my both my cars

Love/hate. Since day 1 I have ate, drank, smoked, driven in the snow, raced, picked up the kids, taken long trips, and over all treated it like a car. I have over maintained the paint, interior, and well, I guess the whole the car at the same time. It has held up to more than I ever thought it would.
