Hey all, having temp problems. I was on travel this week and my wife said the temp gauge had gone way high three times during the week. She turned on the heater and it came down. She picked me up at work and the drive home was fine. Thought it was the thermostat, but after changing it an hour ago and taking it for a spin, it went right back up. Turned on the heat, and no heat. So I am going to let it cool down and see if it is low on antifreeze. Any ideas?

OK, just read related links on burping. Hmmm I thought I was done with that when the kids were babies. LOL

Also when the engine is cold, open the plug on the crossover tube and fill it with coolant. Then run it and get all the air bubbles out when it reaches normal operating temp.

Check the fan for proper operation.

I second that on the cooling fan. I have replaced two fan in Marauder in the last three month.

In June I had the same problem.
I replaced the thermostat with a OReilys in-stock unit.
the engine would not stay at a normal temp and was nearly overheating.
Then I special-ordered a STANT 188 degree thermostat.
Problem solved.
Since the thermostat is not located in the engine block like most cars, the marauder is possibly sensitive to the proper thermostat.

+1 make sure the Thermostat is for a Marauder (if you changed it) as it needs to have the bypass setup! Reinhart sells the Ford 180's. If not the cooling system can't properly close loop and in the process looses a ton of efficiency and can overheat. I've made that mistake once too.. :censor:

Went to replace the thermostat with a failsafe unit. Says it's for the marauder but after I installed it and ran it, the system was building up tons of pressure, I took it apart again after that happened and it wasn't the correct tstat. Make sure it's the right one. Good luck figuring it out
