I'll spill, 14.1 was good enough for N/A followed by
The power adder class did the best of 12.3 @109 with four Marauders in the 12's .
My other drag racing friends were laughing at how close every one was.
One of them made two rounds then; ran 9.98 on a 10.01 dial with his '78 Fairmont traping @ 136

I f-ing lost, but my times at Da Grove are the same as they've ever been. I'll go to 41, go faster and be told it didn't happen.
Bob did a 12.3 and the best I could do was 12.5
Bob was also missing a headlight and running racing fuel... even though he couldn't tune it. I was still in full street form, running rich and running pump gas. I'm still the fastest in Chicago despite the trophy was given to a member that doesn't live in the Windy City. This wasn't Chicagoland Marauders and Chicagoland doesn't even exist. Not only that, but the trophy was shown off especially to my face. I think most took more enjoyment in seeing me lose than seeing Bob win. Keep in mind I put 30,000 miles sense my cars last 1/4 mile time and it's still going as strong as ever. 12.5 at Da Grove, 12.3 at US 41. I kinda got a bad vibe.
Whatever. Enjoy.
Thank you so much Steve for helping me when I broke down. The car is being funny. I think I put too much torque on the spark plugs again. I'll deal with it later.

If he was running race fuel with no tune for it, that's not really an advantage, not to mention if you are saying 41 is a .2 faster track there is no reason to think he wouldn't go .2 faster too beating you with a 12.1 instead. Loss is a loss man
Congrats Bob

10-03-2010, 08:15 PM
Thanks Suki, He is right however, I have always ran faster myself at 41 also. And I also agree on the fuel. I thought my global spark was unlocked in the tune, had I caught that earlier I would have never wasted $50 for a can and fuel. I tried to adjust after dumping in the fuel and was a little upset about that. Can't blame the tuner though, I would lock it up myself if in his shoes.

It's always done 12.5 at Da Grove. Everytime someone would have a solution for the check engine light I would do it and nothing would change. There are two things that need to be fixed, but it's as fast as it's ever been. Until I can dump money under the hood instead of MY cost of living, it'll have to remain as is.

No I haven't replaced the rubber elbow and I haven't forgotten about it either. Keep in mind how much the car is driven compared to the other 12 second cars. I'd say it's doing fine, but could be better with about 2 hours time replacing the intake, gasket and probably another dyno tune.

Great weather for our cars though. Good thing the body shop is taking the car away today, I don't wanna look at it. :flamer:
I was sleeping at the lights! Had a .33 vs .12. Had a great time at this event. Sorry I did not spend more time with you guys. Hack has video of the race with the A/FX car and will post it later. He also has a lot of video of you guys to put up. I did manage a new best with the T Bolt of 11.639 which is a tenth better. I also had my best reaction times with the car and had a .04, .004 and .008 all in a row during time trials. The bang that created a pull is the right front brake! That did not help my reaction time when racing the Comet as it happened as I finished up the burnout which was a great one as you will see when the video gets posted by Paul. The Comet ran 11.75 and I went 11.63 that run. I am looking forward to the video! Thanks for the meet Brad as it was a riot! Diiner with you on Saturday night was also fun.

No, I only have one tune for 93. I was hoping to bump the spark and play a little harder than normal but looked a little closer to the up/down arrows on the xcal. Yep, No up arrow. The air temp was anywhere from 43 to 56 throughout the day. Car responded like it had something to prove in all four runs for once and was very consistant, I spun a good 30 feet on run 1 and still netted at 12.5 followed by two awesome hooks 12.3/12.4 then some more slippage in the fourth run but only about 10' or less. I'm sorry, but I never did get the humidity reading yesterday. I was asleep at the tree all day! Best R/T of .2 something and averaged .3's for the rest. (Not my norm)Thanks everyone for the congrats!

Let's get something straight here. I lost and it wasn't fair, but who cares? There were no rules as to the form of the car. Nothing about headlights or fuel type, none of this was mentioned. So what am I mad about? The reason being that this was Windy City. There is no Chicagoland. The only reason "Chicagoland" is mentioned is because nearly everyone here is from a suburb. This was to go to the fastest Marauder in Chicago. Guess what? I don't think there was a member at the track from Chicago? Nothing has changed, Windy City Marauders (if it exists) was never stated as Chicago and anyone 50 miles from it. If that was the case we all know Zack would have won and he lives in Indiana! When I think of The Windy City I think of Chicago. Not someone near or just outside... C-H-I-C-A-G-O!
So the trophy can go to someone that lives 40 miles from Chicago, but must live in IL? Anywhere in IL it seems.
As far as my car goes, it's always run 12.5 at Da Grove. It's also driven a hell of a lot more. It needed work that I didn't do. The exhaust I did my best to do many time, I can never get the one bolt free to change the passenger side collector gasket. :mad2: That's my problem.
End rant on technicalities that are not enforced.

I had tools too. I didn't care about that. I already took the headlight out a year ago and ran slower... I have no clue why. My headlight is tied on, not bolted it. It would take a long time and wasn't worth the efforct especially sense it made me slower last year.

Or are you just upset that your no longer the fastest one? Should we start a Wheaton Marauders and a Naperville Marauders and an Aurora Marauders, and a Lisle Marauders, and a Cicero Marauders, and a Downers Grove Marauders?

Screw it. :shake:
I'm done explaining my point of view. I know you all get it, but just don't wanna face the fact that many of us are not from Chicago, yet Windy City is mentioned for our gatherings. I cannot think of a single meet that happened in Chicago other than meeting Takedown and Justbob on the south side one day. The whole point of the event was to see who was the fastest in Chicago... not Chicago and any other city that the Metra train goes to. There is a difference.
You wanna start seeing who's the fastest in your town, go ahead. I guess that means I wouldn't count right? Do you all get it now? That's the point. Go see who's the fastest in Crystal Lake, Barrington, heck why not Westmont and La Grange? Winner of those events competes for a trophy for Fastest Marauder In The State. That would almost make too much sense though. The question in hand was who was the fastest in The Windy City.... that's Chicago and Chicago only. Crystal Lake is not The Windy City just like how Detroit is not The Big Apple.
Seriously why not have a battle of the cities? If the event was just a gathering I wouldn't give a hoot about the outcome, but being that Chicago was mentioned I kinda thought that meant.... ummm.... Chicago! I was wrong though. It's Chicago and any place else people call Chicago when they are on vacation and say where they are from. Oh yeah it's easier to just say Chicago then take the 2 seconds and say you are 20 miles west.
guspech750
10-06-2010, 07:44 PM
Dom really? Dude if you want to race yourself then go ahead. I guess you win. I dont think there are any S/C MM's "in" Chicago except maybe you. Who the hell is going to say, I am a member of the Roselle Marauders. Nobody knows WTF that would mean. And actually Dom. Windy City really refers to the tall buildings that create valleys where the wind zips through. Amongst some other possible meanings dating back to the 1870's. So do you really live "downtown" and not the surrounding neighborhoods?

"Windy City" was a term used to insult Chicago during the worlds fair. Before Chicago got it in 1893 talk of the town was in discussion. Someone said "Who would want the fair in that windy city?" That's how the term came up, as an insult and people liked it.

My biggest beef with you Dom, is acting like you own the City of Chicago and all that goes on here. We all built this city, and we all take pride in the city's heritage. That's why we say we're from Chicago, and are proud of it! Chicago belongs to everyone in the city and suburbs, not just you!
As far as you losing at the races.....You lost, Bob won. Period. End of story.:burnout:

Bob, there are a few things I can mention about you and I won't. Don't be mad because the trophy doesn't actually belong to you being that you aren't a Chicago resident. I'm never going to grow up anyway. You were being a total d1ck for wanting me to give you the trophy in a photo. The only reason you wanted that was because you know I wanted it more. You don't even care about having you car these days. A few others were like that too. "Dom lost big time!!!" "Bob wants to get a photo with Dom awarding him the trophy? That's great!" I wasn't cryin' at the track Bob, I was just driven to win. Everyone thought I was nuts for cleaning the plugs thinking it would do nothing. Guess what, it did and everyone who was laughing was quiet after my next run proving everyone wrong. It was a bit annoying when everyone is laughing at me everytime I lost. You can try it sometime and tell me how you feel. Of course at this age I'm supposed to roll with it because it's just for laughs right? Well if anyone needed to grow up it was those who were acting like high school kids. I didn't laugh at anyone for losing nor did I tell anyone that they got their ass kicked when I knew they wanted to win. That's rude and immature.... and I am the one being told to grow up? jesus christ. I was giving one member advice on how to race because it was his first time, not laughing in his face if he made a bad run.
You wanna know what my girlfriend thinks of you? She didn't like you slapping her ass earlier this year, I bet Mel didn't see or hear about that one.
My self image? A lotta times I'll go days without a shower or shaving. I care about it sometimes though. I care enough to make sure I stay away from polo shirts and tan pants.
You know I have a life and you know I am chasing the life I really want. You wanting me out of your life is your loss, but I did enjoy my times and learning experience from you. Maybe again sometime, but as of now the feeling is same with me.
Tbone, Chicago belongs to the people who live in it, not those who lie about it. My biggest beef is liars. If anyones address says anything other than Chicago, it means you don't live in Chicago. Simple as that, no exception, no lies. Wind has nothing to do with the residency. Wind blows all over the world, so in some peoples eyes Chicago must be all of the earth right? If someone is saying a suburb is part of Chicago because they get the same wind, then Denver, CO and Springfield, IL should be called Chicago too right? No wait I am sorry Chicagoland... lol even spellcheck has that underlined because there is no such thing as Chicagoland. You're right Chicago doesn't belong to just me, just everyone in it and no one out of it.
Would you people read everything all the way though? I don't care about losing. What made me mad is the trophy was given to someone that doesn't live in The Windy City for a Windy City event. So bringing up the race is totally irrelevant.
Are we done? Or do you guys wanna jump start this thread everytime you have a few drinks or a bad day?

Jesus Christ Dom, If Chicago was so fricking great people wouldn't migrate out to the suburbs. There is nothing in the by-laws that says Windy city Marauders is strictly within the Chicago zip code, other wise we would have to have a fricking club for every sub-division of the city.
And for you to call out Bob for slapping Becky's ass and bring his wife into it is about as low brow as you can get. After all the help Bob has given you.
Perception often times tends to be reality, and whether you mean it that way or not, when you whine about someone winning who lives in Wheaton and that he got the trophy, I'm sorry but it sounds like being a sore loser to me.
Now I will grant you that I wasn't there, but I have known Bob for over 20 years, and he is by brother. I can tell you there is not a mean bone in his body, and anything he said at the track that day was in jest, you've known Bob long enough to know that.
Bob has given everything he can to this community and has helped anyone that has needed it(including you), either with their car, finances or sometimes both. The perception that I see is that you took what should have been a fun day at the track, and started whining about zip codes because you weren't the fastest.
And to further imply that a rant was because someone had too much to drink, you should know that Bob rarely, if ever drinks, and the dude never gets pissed at a friend without reason, and in my opinion it's just uncalled for.
As you have often said Dom "You have a Marauder and so Do I" and we should all get along. Enough about people not living within the Chicago city limits. If you feel that way, then only hang around the people that live in the limits and then you'll never have to hear it again.
Rant over

He brought up the subject of his wife first and what she thinks. So I returned the favor.
Everyone needs to quit it with the "you lost get over it." I know I lost, I was there. Brad, you're a good man, but you're not one to judge about how my behavior was at the track. You admitted you weren't there.
I even said I learned a lot from Bob as in my last reply, so I do not need to reminded on how wonderful Bob can be. I don't know what set him off, but it's not me that keeps this thread going after a day or two of rest. Being now that I said that, it'll probably be shut down by big sister or one of the yes men.

I would like to extend my apologies to Pops for ALL of us officially wrecking his thread. John, it was really great to see you again, it never gets old swapping stories with you. Still blows my mind that you offered up your keys that easy!
Dominick, I smack ALOT of ass's in front of Mel, just as she does to other guys, sorry if you took it wrong or if I upset Becky. The reason this gets drummed up every couple days is because I work long hours lately from 6 AM to 9 PM and quite frankly am too tired to spend my life on here. You are right, I really don't care about the trophy or the car much at all, just another day. It was more of a surprise as I thought you would have beaten me. If the zip code idea was SUCH a big deal, then why didn't you seem to give a hoot about it from day one? Why bring it up now? We all know Zack is a member of WCM with a 10 sec. car, we aren't stupid... Marauderboy has what, a 11 sec. car doesn't he??? It was supposed to be a fun day at the track, instead it has broken a friendship over something STUPID and having to witness a side of you that I have never seen. We were thinking at first that you were joking and having fun.
Try losing a race? I always do! This just happened to be my day? The photo of you was because this was about you and me from the start with trash talk, don't deny it, you thought you had it in the bag. If your car was running right and not blowing smoke out the pipes so bad, you would easilly take me and you know it. Don't pin your anger at us because you can't get your car right. Mine was running at 100% in that cool air, thats all she has. Did you actually think you had a chance from the start of the day when you couldn't shake me off your tail before we arrived? You should have been able to walk away easilly with your procharger!
Sorry about the comment from Mel, it was wrong of me but she could not believe the comments from you all of a sudden about zip codes or the way you were acting, it's not humorous or even you for that matter. What is wrong with you lately?
IIRC, You and Drew were the first members I met in person at my very first mini meet, it sucks to see this side of you, it is quite ugly and not your norm. Hope all is well with you.
John, once again, truly sorry for this. You ran a great time with that old girl, wish I could have watched a few in person. HUGE thanks to Hack for his video taping of everyone and getting it up so quick! Also thanks for letting us keep our things in your trailer, that really rests the mind when were busy away from the pits.
The one's that I feel sorry for here are Steve, who set this whole thing up and couldn't bring his car. Brad who is a die hard track guy who had a bad fuel pump, and Doug who had his father in the hospital (hope all is good, haven't heard from him).
This will be the last time I comment on this thread out of respect to all involved.

What is wrong with you lately?
Being that you asked this question proves you still care and believe it or not I still care about you. If you really must know here you go.
1. My dad just showed me the other day he has blood in his crap. He also refuses to see a doctor.
2. My mom hasn't left the house in over two weeks because she lacks energy. She refuses to see a doctor.
3. My dad could lose his house in the next few months.
4. My girlfriend lost her grandfather this year and her dad is due in a few weeks or days.
5. I'm being kicked out of the building that was once my dads in a few weeks. He lost his building and lost his business.
6. I could easily fix my car if I have $200 to do it with, but I need to live and cannot do it.
7. I have six weeks to redo some songs to make an impression on a producer. So maybe I can get where I want instead of suck where I am at.
8. My hair is going white because of all of this... I'm growing old and hate it.
9. I took a year off of school to chase the dream, now I'm getting heat from it. Not from family, but a bank and school.
10. My girlfriend doesn't seem to go anything about her weight and it's effecting her health.
11. My girlfriend is so stressed about her life that I'm being cursed at and yelled at everyday. When I left home I thought I would get away from being yelled at... it came back.
There you go. These are just some of the issues I have in this thing called life. When I go to the track it's my time to relax and enjoy myself. I pretty much got the opposite from nearly everyone. Thought I was a bigger man than that? Well some don't know me that well. We all come from different places and were raised different ways. We also all have different lives. So maybe some of you can take a joke or an insult every now and then. Sometimes just the slightest thing can set me off these days... I guess you guys hit the target.

We all have issues. It's how you deal with those issues that make you the person that you are. It's easy to be happy and admired when all is right in your world. Rise up and deal with what life throws at you with a smile on your face and joy in your heart. It's the difference between being truly at peace or a miserable wretch.
