Well, I had an unbelievably great first experience racing at Union Grove today. My heart is still racing! Now it's Miller time!
The first run was a disaster because I got my street tires wet, and after the awesome burnout, I still spun them for about 500 ft. Bradley G was in the car with me for this run. It was pitiful.
After that, not bad at all. I blew the light a couple times and baked brownies a couple times, but I ran consistent low to mid 14's and mid ninety speeds. In race 4, I had a .001 reaction time, but I got a red light. .001 from winning $100.:mad2:Best speed was 96.16 and time was 14.308, but not in the same run.
Temp: Mid 50's
Run 1 16.984@91.69
Run 2 14.469@95.25
Run 3 14.308@96.00
Run 4 14.393@96.16
Run 5 14.570@94.56 Bradley was in the car and he's huge!
Run 6 14.385@95.90
So here are the results for the $20 purse.
Run 3 was the best of the day. 14.308@96.00. Some guys guessed only one or the other number or only to the tenths of a second, not hundreths. Blown3.8 guessed 96 mph but was a half second high. So, the one that comes closest is:
MMARAUDER03 with a guess of: 14.345@96.57
This is really fitting because I was inspired to write the thread from him and he made the very first guess as well!
Congrats man! $20 is yours!:banana2:
Special thanks to all the guys with their advice especially Bradley G and JustBob! You guys rock! All I can say at this point is:
"I'll be baaack"!:coolman:

What were the 1/8 mile times? Want to gestamate what the 1/4 times might be. I went to an 1/8 mile track and ran 9.72@74.7. 60' times were stupid at 2.29 every pass, no matter what I tried.
Chris
Told you you would run 14.30's

With your mods in the cooler temps will net you consistant 14.45's with maybe a 14.30's depending on your cool down time. MPH will be around mid 90's, maybe a 96-97 if lucky. I wasnt far off either

I must say, as soon as I stopped feeling sorry for myself, for not being in on the drag racing action, I reminded myself what great friends you guys are to come fetch me & let me tag along ! :coolman:
And special thanks go to justbob for datalogging my car to confirm my fuel pump is tired .
The video I took of the second turn I got to ride shotgun with tbone is hysterical, because the PA guy mispronounces Tom's last name and he barks out the correction, clearly already headed down the strip in his mind.
Talk about a guy that gets focused !
On tbones first run, we were spinning so hard even nearing the 330' mark, I wasn't sure if something let go. :bagpiper: 14 seconds of excietment

It was no problem at all Brad. I wouldn't let you skip out that easy.... sucks about the car though, atleast its a quick fix. Thanks for the pancakes, eggs, and sausage! But just where in the hell were the biscuits?:shake::D

The awesome advice and support, the adrenalin, the burnout, the smoke, the spinning tires down the track, and the feeling when the tires finally hooked up well down the track on my first ever run with my good bud Brad in the passenger seat was a moment I will always remember. Drag racing is now a part of me......****ing A!
Brad, thanks again for introducing me to the sport. Really, a great group of MM and drag racing guys!
Where have I been!?

I definitely want a re-match Lowbuck! I learned a few things that day, and a couple since! You think you have what it takes without your little baby bottle to suckle on?
Bring it on, baby boy!!!!!!:flamer:
