+1

I can think of at least a few friends of mine that would KILL for an opportunity like this, but the frame rust is a real deal killer...

Understandable... It is behind the suspension at least... easily welded... :D

Spent 40 years in the body shops and it is not an easy repair. The only good fix is to find another frame with no rot. Its a shame as it is a nice car other than the rust!

Thank you for that! I know the frame issue sucks, but dad says if nobody wants to pay 4,500 for it he'll just keep it lol. I think he may be married to this car! The stupid thing is that he has a welder and plenty of time. MIG and Arc.

It sucks that I'm an honest person sometimes.... I just couldn't live with myself not disclosing this issue in the sale.

They are not that easy to fix. Plus you will keep on finding more rust as you go. My grand parents had a 65 Galaxie with very few miles on it and the we had to just junk the car. Get a frame from out west and change her over!

That sucks... I doubt he'd be down for a frame swap lol. He's been, shall we say... under-motivated in the last few years. I bought him several things for this car over the years, including a 4 barrel setup, a Crane electronic distributor conversion, a pair of '63 MERCURY script valve covers, and some other stuff for various fathers days and birthdays. Never done anything with it all, and I ended up peddling all that stuff away for him on eBay. :shake: I wish I had other plans, I WOULD put another frame under it. There's an X-100 in Ohio that I've had my eyes on, and it has a good frame. But my heart lies with finding myself a nice DBP '03. :D I don't need another heavy old car project, I have my '69 Torino to drain my bank account already. The wife and I have decided that our household operates nice and smoothly with one project car and one dd apiece (total of 4 cars at a time). Minus the occasional cheap car to flip and make a dollar on.

I swapped the frame on a '70 Galaxie 500, of course I was 30+ years younger and had lots more energy than I do these days... Frame was horrid on that one but body was decent, taught me a lesson about that northern stuff...

My 65 Galaxie had rust in the EXACT same spot. It's not that hard to fix, you will have to do a frame off though. I think putting new rails on there was the easiest part of the whole ordeal. There's no need for an entirely new frame, that's a ton of wasted money!

Not when you have a $100 parts car that had a perfect frame, of course '60-'70s parts cars are getting rare and pricey these days ... Mine was rotted out on the driver side all the way up over the axle, the mount for the control arm was starting to break loose...
