The light is only a theft-deterrent and will not trigger an alarm. If you're quiet you could strip our cars clean with not a peep from the horn would occur. Light goes solid when the keys turns on and indicates the condition of the Securi-Lock ignition.

It's a passive system not active like an aftermarket alarm. Can't go wrong with Clifford or Viper alarm system.

passive means it's just for show like bad merc said.or will it sound off if say a window is broken

The red blinkenlight on the dash is for the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System).

The ignition key contains a small coded chip that responds when interrogated by the transponder. If the code doesn't match, the car won't start and the blinkenlight turns on steady.

None of it has anything to do with broken windows, open doors, tilting or bumping the car, etc. and it doesn't sound any audible alarm. It just keeps the car from starting with an invalid key (or a screwdriver).
