Hello, bought a 04 DTR MM (81,000miles) a few weeks back, thought it was all stock, but have since discovered 4.10 gears ( a plus). Had a K&N in factory box, but replaced with the FIPK, and have now discovered that it has some kind of tune because I can't use the new tuner that I got for it.
Any idea how in the world I can return it to stock or do anything with it, without the original tuner???? Asked at the Ford dealer and they gave me some talk about possibly burning up the computer if they hook up there stuff?? ideas? Thanks,
Chris

Is the previous owner available for questions like "Where's the flash tuner that should have come with the car?!"

There may be one or two people on the site that could help you if they see this.
Good Luck and Happy Maraudering!

Thanks for the welcome!:)
Was told that it was a 1 owner car, but traded hands 3 or 4 times from dealer to dealer. I also don't have the code to make the key pad work.
Wonder if the previous owner may have been a member here? Not sure but think it may have been from one of the Carolinas.

look inside the trunk on the underside of the decklid for a sticker with the code for the key pad.

Send RoyLPita a PM with the VINN and ask if he has it in his files. May be able to ID the previous owner.

It's my understanding a dealer can reflash the computer to stock, then your new flasher can work.

Just checked, the only sticker is the one with the vin # on it.:depress:

Haven't learned how to do that yet, but will give it a try.

Was hoping that was the case, but the guy told me it could fry the computer? He may have been just wanting me to leave as he was in the middle of lunch.

Won't disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes make the computer reboot itself?

Yes, but it won't revert to the original flash.

Check the trunk hinges, below the "A" pillar on the drivers side, the owners manual or as a last resort pull off the drivers side door panel and it should be on the door lock module.

Your looking for a 5 digit number.

The system will always have the factory code and you can add up to 3 more codes.

At ford, them reprogramming your MM should just rewrite the ROM of the ECM, shouldnt hurt anything, its just changing the parameters of the software tuning.

Same thing the tuner does to the factory software, just in reverse. But I think Lidio at Alternative Auto, or Zack a member at this site could better answer exactly

Don't see anything, but was looking under the dash and found the computer! It has a Diablo sport sticker on it! I peeled it back and it looks like it has some sort of chip sticking out the window the sticker is covering.

Take the chip out and your back to stock. Yes, it's that easy.

Yes. Pull it straight out. It just overwrites your factory tune when installed, there is nothing downloaded.

Keep in mind that your speedo will now be off.

Hello Chris & Welcome!

You may want to touch base with "cwright" here on mm.net.........

He knows the car, because he knows that dealer you bought it from, if it was the DTR he told me about up in Rome, GA (Chris Wright is his name, and he is also from Rome).

Also, the $$$ that you would spend to return the vehicle to a stock tune might be better spent on a dyno tune from either Dennis R (Chris can fill you in on what Dennis has done to his beast) or if you want to stay local, Mo's Speed Shop in Dallas, GA or Injected Engineering in Kennesaw, know Marauders, and have their own Dyno's.

Private Message Chris tho to see what he knows about your car...... Welcome again! Be sure to join us in Marietta for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel........3rd Saturday morning of ea. month 8am.....75 & Delk Road exit then go east and its on the left.... Can't miss it. We are out back!:burnout:

Pull the chip out and you're back to stock, then the flasher will be able to download a tune to your PCM. The problem is not that you have a non-stock tune in the PCM, it is that there is a chip in the PCM. It is a good thing the dealer didn't try to download the stock tune to the PCM...

The door code stickers for both of my cars (I bought them brand new) came in the owner's manual. I put them in the normal locations on the trunk lid hinges myself. Sometimes the dealer will install them, sometimes they leave the stickers for the owner to install, sometimes they never get installed. Check the manual, if they're not in there pull the driver's door panel and look at the door control module for the code.

Just pulled it and loaded the tune on the tuner! Thanks boys!:D Shifts much smoother now just cruising, but...., but will now spin on launch and rubber in second!! Way cooler!:coolman: Wife took the car so haven't checked out the key pad code under the door panel yet.

Any ideas on what to check, cruise control doesn't work either? Haven't checked it since taking the chip out though.

Thanks again,
