Is a K&N CAI the best way to go for air flow? I am told I need a high performance mass air flow module also. Will that come with a $260 CAI?
Thanks for any advice,
BILL

No the MAF is not included in the K&N, I don't think it's needed, unless you remove all the other restriction in the air delivery system.

The stock MM airbox actually flows pretty well.
Youy may see some minimal performance gains by going to an aftermarket CAI, but the main benefit is looks and sound.
IMO, if you're looking to do an initial mod, get yourself a tune, much more bang for the buck.
We have several vendors that sell plug 'n play tuners loaded with Marauder tunes:
Wes at Innovative Interceptors sells Lidio tunes:

Dennis Reinhart also sells a great Marauder tune:

Im running a CAI with a hi-flow tube through a bigger throttlebody into a short runner intake and I didn't need a new MAF. Someone gave you bad info. The K&N flows just as good as a JLT except the JLT costs $100 cheaper. So IMO, check out a JLT intake instead.

Lot's of threads on this subject but SCCheese is right. K&N is more aesthetically appealing than the JLT but the JLT is cheaper. Reinhardt might sell the PHP set-up but I'm not sure you'll have to PM him, he's a vendor here. Performance gains are similar between all of them.

JLT $160
K&N $260
PHP $400.
If price is a factor, JLT is the winner.

I agree since I have one.;)
What a difference in price from 5 years ago when it was my very first mod.

I believe I paid $225 for it back in 05. The metco intake tube was close to $300 new but I picked it up off a fellow member for $150.

I would like to add a JLT to my Marauder and add a MAF only for the reason I can use the stock Airbox/MAF in my 96 Town Car. This would be a two for one bang for the Buck Special!!
What MAF would work with the CAI? or does it require a 80MM unit?

You don't need to change the MAF. You only gain sound and looks. Maybe 5-10 hp.
But I like the sound when I had my non-s/c'd MM.

I know, I would have to get another MAF anyways to use the stock Marauder airbox in the Lincoln, and I would want a Tune in the Marauder so I figure y not get a bigger MAF?
Or I could just track down a used JLT/Stock MAF combo instead...

I bigger MAF won't give any benefit unless your going w/ forced induction.

The stock MM MAFS is fine, leave it be and leave it in your MM.
If you want to do any upgrade to your Town Car do the PI head swap, that you will actually feel the power difference in the seat of your pants.
JLT is a good intake, best bang for your buck.

Why are we over complicating a bolt-on system???

Simple break down....
Stock MAF used, tune recomended, but not mandatory, If money is no option and you want looks then go for the PHP. If you're on a budget, then go JLT.

OK. I just bolted mine in. I guess I am the dummy for not seeing if it was ok to do so without a tune. My car is bone stock with a K&N. Has bee for over 60k miles

Town car is about 85% complete from installing a 2004 engine.
I will run it in the winter with the OEM tune but it will need a tune to run like it should. The Marauder airbox/80mm MAF worked real nice on my 2001 with a tune so that is what I am leaning toward for the 96 Lincoln.
Maybe I will just grab another stock Airbox/MAF if one pops up over the Winter. The JLT would look nice in the Marauder and the poor thing is 100% stock still so...:burnout:
