454 Casull. This is a Charter Arms, the Taurus "Raging Bull" is awesome. "..the maximum average pressure was set at 65,000 psi. The highest pressure shown in the Hodgdon Data Manual using the older copper crusher method is 55,000 cup. These pressures are similar to those of the .300 Weatherby Magnum rifle cartridge!"

Some guy had one with a 4 inch barrel at the range a few months back and let me shoot the thing. Being a "man of size" as well as a life long shooter I have to say that hand cannon was pretty much useless to me. It was just too damn powerful and almost impossible to keep on target (for me anyway). I had been shooting my Ruger .44 mag Super Blackhawk and after shooting the S&W shooting my Ruger was like a BB gun, I was nailing the target. A nice toy if you have the bucks I guess.

At 25 yards, not 50 yards.

What's the point in the S&W 500.......the .44 Mag is gross overkill unless you're huntin' Grizzlies at which point I would choose a big rifle and great DISTANCE??

The point is if you are hunting boar or bear you had better have a sidearm that can put them down with one shot.

They are listed as a "Hunters Handgun", not for personal protection.

.458 Winchester Magnum works from quite a ways out and it won't break your wrist Billy !!:bows:

If you miss with that "Hand Canon" you become boar or bear food!!

I make a great effort not to eat food that hurts to eat, or shoot guns that hurt to shoot

So I guess the Ruger LCP I bought yesterday is not in the same class, but it does go into my pocket easily.

If you want to hurt your hand
Try banging off 50 self defense rounds (fast)
from a Kel-Tec P11...hot bullets equal sore hand

I prefer a good old fashioned 1911 .45

I've always been a fan of the Glock 20 for self defense against people and animals. 10mm is a hell of a handgun round when it's a full power load :D

Nothing like a coach gun to light up a room. And a .45 with Black Talons for anything still moving. :uzi:

good ol' 1911 has been the best for almost 100 years now
