Hello Everyone,
Last night I became a new Marauder owner! I bought a new 2003 300A model. I haven't driven it much, but I noticed my coolant looks yellow. Is something wrong? I thought coolant was suppose to be green or red. I had a Mark VIII I sold before the Marauder and it had green coolant. Do I need to get the radiator flushed?
FYI: Even though I have only driven it 50 miles, I'm already loving the car. I do wish it had a "Cruise Control lamp" and map lights. The stereo is awsome.

your coolant is fine. map lights are on upper console behind rearview mirror. dont know what a cruise control lamp is. if you cant remember if you have it on just tap your brake

 OMG! Funniest title for a thread I've seen in awhile.
Yah, your coolant's fine. It's Ford's responce to GM's red coolant...

NOMARQUIS:
What you have is Motorcraft Premium Gold extended-life coolant. The initial-fill life of this coolant is 5 years/100,000 miles. Due to variations in water quality, the replacement interval is every 3 years/50,000 miles. Ford recommends specifically against mixing any other type of coolant with the Premium Gold. If you ever need to add any, Zerex makes a version called G-05 that is compatible and is available at AutoZone.

My coolant is red.
Your comment that the stereo is awesome will change when you hear the system in a car that one of us has enhanced with better speakers and maybe a better subwoofer.
I've only replaced all four speakers myself, but what sounded better initially than the stereo in my wife's Taurus now sounds much better and is becoming more awesome.
Welcome and enjoy your MM. The fun is just beginning.

Me too! I spend a lot of time on the highway, it would be nice to have a light to let me know when the cruise control is on. I know,.. I can take my foot of the pedal,.. but,.. I'm lazy!

Don't bother tasting it. Todd already confirmed that it tastes like urine too.

Urine? Based upon some of the stupid things some dealers have done to these cars, who knows?

I wouldn't worry unless your urine starts looking like coolant! ;)

Or your urine starts tasting like coolant.....
You sure seem to know a LOT about urine, Marty. I guess it's from the smell of Grand Central next to your office.

Sir, are you aware you're leaking coolant at an alarming rate? What you need sir is a searing blast of red-hot resin to clear that up.
[Futurama reference]
I kinda like my lime green coolant ... especially the toxic part! :)

NOMARQUIS - Welcome aboard. Enjoy your new ride. A cruise control indicator would be nice. My Chev pickup has one. Typical FMC always looking to save a $.

The MM gauge cluster has a cut-out for a cruise control indicator, with matching circutry on the PC overlay. It's just above the ABS indicator, but blacked out from the inside, and the correct lamp is absent. I suppose one could try to restore this, but I don't know if the PC overlay circutry leads to any on/off indicator. One would have to test the circut, maybe one of our honored wiring diagram owners could look it up from the dash back?
Now that this has been brought up, there is a whole row of empty cut-outs available on the cluster, each approx 1/2" square. Looking at the cluster, four are in line with and to the left of the Air Susp light. Another five are in line with to the right of the OD Off light. These areas are ideal locations for surface mounted micro LED indicators and trailing wire, customize to your heart's content. There are no PC overlay connections for these locations, but there is ample room in the cluster that has been tempting to me.
Some indicators I've considered include a warning light to compliment dummy oil pressure gauge, an on/off indicator for any custom exterior/undercarriage lighting, or, add-on entertainment stuff, and so on. BTW, I've got PC overlay wiring AND a bulb in place for the Traction Control indicator, but my MM is a 300A, so, it goes unused. I've love to convert this to a "in boost" indicator..."Look, Honey, I'm WOT! Yes, dear, I know what an Idiot light means." Okay, I'll go lay down a while...
Exactly why we do not have a CC indicator, I don't know. However, this serves to level the 300A vs. 300B playing field for all owners. We're all decontented now, let us share in this disappointment.
