I need to replace the grooved idler pulley on my Trilogy powered MM.
The replacement one from Ford is too big.
Did my parts guy get it wrong or was this replaced when the Trilogy kit was put on?

Good question. Thank god for Jerry. I'm sure he'll chime in soon.
How long have you had your trilogy?

Doubtful that Jerry will sign on over here to answer questions....
If it's the top ribbed idler, that one is a special for the Trilogy kit. If it's the bottom one, it should use the stock part. The top pulley gets swapped from a smooth one to a ribbed one. Search the Trilogy manual or the Eaton Swap Parts List Thread for a part number.

If you can get ahold of Jerry he may send you a replacement for free. I'd just find the part number and get one from Ford.

Is the part number in the Trilogy manual a Ford #?

Not sure, some of the numbers are Ford, some aren't. Check the first 4 digits of the parts list. A lot of them are common and they are for obvious non-Ford parts, those are custom Trilogy numbers. If the number they list for the pulley has the same first 4, it's a Trilogy number, if they're different it's probably a Ford number.

It's a Trilogy #.
I posted on the other board, maybe Jerry will hook me up?

Get the one listed in the Eaton Swap thread, it's the same.

If the part number prefix is 4 digits ending in the letter Z, has a the part number about 4 or 5 digits followed by a 2 or 4 ALPHA suffix, is likely a Ford part number. This is not an absolute.

Sometimes if you look for a part number in the new Trilogy manual it is a non-Ford number, but if you look for the same part in an older manual it is the Ford number.

I needed a replacement for the same pulley as the OP...the one I received from Trilogy has P/N F43E-19A216-BA. It was in a Dayco box with P/N 89095. Both the number on the pulley and the number given by Zack above ^^^ cross to the same Dayco number according to their web site.
FWIW, the Dayco site says this pulley is found on the 2.5L V6 in the '95-'97 Contour and Mystique.
