i recently had my gears changed to 4.10s and am very pleased with how they work and how it changes the tune....for those of you complaining about the torque converter lockup speed set to high on lidio's tune, the gears actually lower the lockup speed in 4th by approx 10km/h. for concerns on the highway, at 120km/h i went from 2200 to 2500(approx) which isnt that big of a deal because this motor likes to rev and ive found its made 4th MUCH more peppy under moderate throttle without the converter having to unlock. the gears make everyday driving alot more enjoyable and make the car feel like its got more grunt at any position of the pedal, their not just a 1/4 mile "racing" mod. if anyone is considering this mod do it and you wont be disappointed and as for fuel mileage goes i havnt noticed a difference and i dont see why it would change city driving. now i have to decide what i want to do for exhaust work?

I had 4.10's with my nitrous MM. What a blast. I tell you, she got out of the hole just fine after that mod.

I want 4.10's as well. As I've read, I'll have to purchase a programmer of some type when I get them put in, am I correct? Excuse me for asking. Just too many cars and too much going on with them to keep up with all the info. Thanks in advance

Correct.
But be forewarned...once you're programming for the gear change (which includes changes for the speedo), the temptation to install a performance tune of your choice will be too strong!
Don't say I didn't warn you! :burnout::coolman:

You can buy an XCAL3 from Alternative Automotive with two Lidio Tunes for the same price as buying just an XCAL3 elsewhere. It only makes sense to get the tune. Plus you can load other...particular...tunes later on if you want once you have one.
I know I've said it before, but I think if you want to get serious bang-for-your-buck performance, get a tune and 4.10 rear gear and call it a day. MAYBE an intake if you feel the need. To me, high-stall TCs are for drag racing and getting blown is big bucks, so unless you want either of those, you shouldn't bother with anything but the gear and tune.

Ok I have a question:
I am having my 300A rear end rebuilt this week. It will be done today. With the rebuild I am also having the damaged stock axles replaced with stock FoMoCo axles on both sides and upraded to the 4.10 FoMoCo gears. I see that folks like the XCAL3 from Alternative with th 2 Lidio tunes on it, but does anyone else have any other recommended tuners or tunes?

Stupid question, bought my Marauder with 4.10's installed and a tune. Cruise Control never worked when I bought it. Had it in the shop today for some reg, maintenence decided to get the cruise fixed. They guy found a wiring nightmare, corrected everything and all indicators were that everything with the cruise was fine, except it still didn't engage. He said he thought it might actually be a bad switch on the steering wheel, but I'm wondering if the tune for the 4.10's to correct the speedometer has an effect on this?
Be nice, I know I'm a moron when it comes to cars.
thanks guys

Now you need Steeda UDPs, the engine will spin up much faster!! Reinhart has NIB for 200.00. You may get lucky and find a used set for less on the site.

A tune will not have anything to do with the cruise control working or not.

one of my axle's were damaged too, the bearing went and cut a groove right into the axle. i think it was around 250 from the dealer.

Replace the seals and bearings when you pull your axles. Easier to do it right than twice.

Huge +1.
Practically speaking (read: if it's done right the first time), it's the cheapest and most logical choice to rebuild the entire rear-end with the new gear set if you have any kind of serious miles on the car.

The installation kit is the same for either TracLok or open.

WHAT KIND OF RESULTS WOULD I GET. IN REAL TERMS..MORE SPEED FROM STOP OR HIGH END OR WHAT? :banana2:

Seat of the pants, my car spools up faster, pulls stronger in mid-range on up. Can't say there's an improvement on top end.
IMO, I wouldn't consider the mod until installing gears and a tune.

WHAT KIND OF RESULTS WOULD I GET. IN REAL TERMS..MORE SPEED FROM STOP OR HIGH END OR WHAT? :banana2:
Results for 4.10 gears:
Quicker off the line.
Engine will run about 200RPM higher at 70MPH.
You might get 1MPG less.
High end will suffer a bit, but how many times do you do over 120MPH??
You won't be able to get the grin off your face everytime you drive your Marauder.
Results for underdrive pulleys:
Engine will spool up quicker.
Accessories will turn less.
You will have to increase your idle RPMs by 200 so the headlights won't dim at idle.

What do you mean by "more aggressive"?
You could have rebuilt yours with carbon fiber clutches.
I read that the new 2011 Shelby GT500 have better carbon fiber clutches which gives the better torque bias of 60% / 40% vs the regular GT torque bias of 80% / 20% when the clutches heat up.
Is does anyone know if these are Shelby only clutches or just the regular carbon clutches being discussed?
