Don't do it. Leave it stock, especially deciding on what mods you're going to do.
If anything, do the kooks or something similar. The stock set up of completely adequate.

Most power while relatively quiet... Kooks headers, cats, x-pipe with stock mufflers & tips.

A Grand Exhaust expert once told me "if you want to keep the car quiet don't change a thing".

Do a midpipe swap and keep the stock mufflers....
Done!

My car is as quiet as stock & no drone. I can listen to the stereo hold a conversation and not have to compete with my exhaust note. Stainless Works headers high flow cats 2.5" pipe & mid muffler.

I deleted the 2nd cats; mid-pipe swap (2.25"); and Flowmaster 50's. Left the resos' in the tails.
It is very quiet inside the car. NO drone at all! I'd say while cruzing, it is as quiet as stock...but "get on it" and it's sweet!

I have a muffled X pipe and Dynomax superturbos. I think I may be quieter than stock, but flow much better.
Burt: got a pic of your setup?

Mine's not quiet at all unless it's idling or at around 2700 rpms cruising.
Of course I did not want it quiet.

Have you done any other mods to the car? If it's 100% stock, suggest you consider going to 4.10 gears and a tune, will get you more bang for the buck.

Mine is putting down 494 RWHP and my exhuast is totally quite I got stainless works headers and 2nd cat delete that is it, is it restricted? Not at all the way I know I have open header dumps and on the dyno with dumps open I gained only 4-RWHP and actually lost 6RWTQ. TQ loss due to no restriction.

That's interesting. What size diameter dumps do you have? I was thinking of getting electric cutouts put into the leed pipes after the SW headers and cats when I eventually get them.

Regarding loss of torque with the cut-outs.
Low torque is ok for high rmp racing.
Example: take top-fuel dragster. Seperate pipes for each cylinder. Really high rpm and horsepower. They also go full speed (engine wise) almost instantly. The other side of the coin, would be a semi tractor-trailer. Huge amounts of torque and it's only a 6 cylinder deisel.
If you're wanting to "1/4 mile it"- the cut outs are great because you're just gonna mash the pedal to the floor straight away.
But if you're on, say, a road course, you'll need the torque to get you moving quickly out of corners; then the horspwer to keep pulling you down the course to the next turn.
When you look at a dyno sheet, and see that at some point, the hp and trq curves come together, that is where you want to be in a drag race...but not a road course.
They are different kinds of racing...hence...different kinds of cars and set-ups.
This is also why I have since learned (believe me I've investigated it), that if your pipes are too big on a street car, you will feel a loss of low end torque. Go ahead and put a 3.5" or 4" exhaust system on you Marauder and see how much torque there is.

If you really feel you have to do something with the system:
keep the 2nd cats / rebuild the mid pipe section (cats back to the mufflers) with 2" pipe (2" is still bigger than the stock 1-7/8") / and go right into the stock mufflers. (I went 2-1/4"; while others go 2-1/2").
That will keep it quiet; but improve the flow through the mid section; and keep the torque numbers you have now. The output of the 2nd cat is 2".
Again...I repeat...if you feel the need to spend a couple of bucks.

Wow thanks for all the suggestions. headers eh? ive heard they can be a real ***** to install, dont i have to put in mounting spacers or something like that? if i can gain at least 20 rwhp then i think its worth it. so far im thinking of swapping the 4 cats for 2 high flow cats and changing the mid section up to the stock mufflers. and i was also wondering if i would have to change the tune for the different exhaust/headers? another thought would going catless screw up the whole O2 sensor thing

They are 2 .5 inch dumps from the leed pipes 02 sensors installed just before dumps other than that & 2 cats delete all stock from there back . switch installed in center console. never had a problem with them. Only thing I want to change is get highflow cats rather than O.E. I have now

yes basically how mine is set up. Clearly the stock manifolds are the biggest restriction on stock exhaust.

I was wondering the same things. I am going 4:10's and a tune very soon and was wondering if I install headers and 2 high flow cats into my stock miufflers if I need a different tune or dyno. I was told if I install headers I have to get it dynoed. And the first part of his question - will we gain much HP with headers?

Spending the money on headers and not getting a dyno tune from a tuner familiar with MM is just DUMB!
Unless you are only interested in sound/appearances. If that is the case don't get the headers, save money and order the fake 6-71 S/C that goes on top your hood.

so if i went with headers would my local performance shop be able to use my XCAL 3 and modify lidio's 93 octane stock marauder tune? or do i need a whole different tune altogether? sorry, im not too familiar with the tuning/fuel injection thing. im used to carburetors :o

You will need a dyno tune to correct the A/F ratio
